Note added Fri 25/08/2023 by rogue246 Category: Other/General In use as a training and testing locomotive at the GE works in Erie, Pennsylvania still in Freightliner colours, has been straightened and fitted with railings and an extended platform to allow safe access up and down the locomotive. Regarding the straightening of 70012 - once supported the bent sections of the frame were cut, heated until straight then had side patches welded into place to strengthen. There is still a twist in the frame and 'Cab Droop'. The power unit was also written off when it was dropped into the hold of the ship during un-loading from the Beluga Endurance at Newport Docks Source: Erie News |
