Batch CAIB95378-CAIB95390 |

Usage/Service |
Note text: |
This batch of 13 wagons (CAIB95378-95389 built in 1998 and CAIB95390 in early 1999) were intended for use by Bow Midland Waste Recycling carrying containers of builder's waste from Stratford to Ipswich for onward movement to landfill sites. They re-used bogies from scrapped PLA/JLA Procar-80 double-deck car carrying wagons. The planned services were delayed and the wagons were stored at Harwich then at Bow. Eventually the plan was cancelled and the wagons returned to Stoke in about mid-2000. Six were then fitted with removable modules for use in wiring trains during the WCRM (West Coast Route Modernisation programme), some also being later used during electrification of the GW main line. A couple of wagons were hired to Edinburgh Council for use in their waste trains, and to GBRf, though most seem to have remained off-hire. Reports that the wagons were used by Freightliner are thought to be incorrect. |
