Organisation:This is the reviewers opinion of how well the gallery is organised in terms of naming and sorting files and folders/albums. It is essentially a measure of how easy it is to find photos on a particular subject. | Good |
Captioning:This is the reviewers opinion of how well the photos have been captioned. For example, are all the key details (such as date, location, number, working etc) available? Details within filenames can count towards the captioning 'score'. | Full |
Stock covered:This indicates what types of rolling stock are covered. Note that this refers to photos of specific items. For example, a photo of a freight train does not count as a photo of wagons. If there are only a few photos in a given category, this may be shown as none. |

Eras covered:This shows the dates when the photos in each gallery were taken. Note that this does not relate to the age of the stock. For example, a photograph of a 1930s taken in 2021 at a heritage railway would count as a 2000s photo. Also, if there are only a very small number of photos in a particular era, that era may be shown as having none. |

Review:This review contains the opinions of the reviewer and gives an overview of the site along with information about any particular highlights or issues. | A moderately large collection (15,393), where this site excels is in the range of subjects and eras covered. There are photos from almost every decade since the 1920s (many of the 1980s and older ones being in monochrome) and of every class (20 photos of class 13 hump-shunters for example). Most loco classes get their own album, while other albums cover specific eras/years or category (eg BR DMUs). The 595 wagon photos all sit in a single folder but there are some real gems and rarities in there. Photos can be viewed at medium resolution but cannot be downloaded or saved. |
Rating:This rating is the opinion of the reviewer and takes into account various factors such as the quality of the photographs, the interest/rarity of the subject matter and the ease with which the gallery can be navigated and particular photos found. Maximum score is 5 stars. |
