No, it's blue and grey and states 'Streets' across the bar!Sun 29/06/2014, 08:03
Surely that's a purple ''Taxi - Private Hire'' roundel, not Streets?Sun 29/06/2014, 05:55
The towing vehicle was CS02REC; having photographed it towing LT165 away in the evening without noting its registration I was also surprised to see it didn't have a registration number displayed on the front. However the rear views I took confirmed it. Also notable was that LT165 was towed from the front in the evening.Sat 28/06/2014, 14:31
On the westbound side of the Central Line just by West Acton station. I remember this work going on to consolidate the cutting as I was a train guard on the line at the time. It had caterpillar tracks and could have been taken here on 1010L I would guess. I'm no expert on plant but seeing a shorter jib on the Priestman in the LTM picture taken at the war damage depot in Hammersmith makes me wonder if this long jib would be removed for transportation. As for being registered it might have been in case it was needed to clear debris from the road. Wed 25/06/2014, 19:01
Still in use by the Security dept, I see it almost every day.Thu 12/06/2014, 18:19
The driver gave it away the first time I saw it!Mon 26/05/2014, 17:29
Probably still owned by C&S as they have won the tender to provide breakdown cover for London Buses from Sovereign Recovery Fri 25/04/2014, 21:35
Up to this date only 6088T had been numbered Wed 23/04/2014, 18:47
This seems to be a very lucky shot if one considers the history details now available. It would appear to have been grey from acquisition and had not been altered for its very short period (from 2nd June) as a 'pool car' prior to de-licensing some nine days (26th June) after the photograph was takenTue 22/04/2014, 17:11
Now known to be allocated fleetnumber 7478FWed 05/03/2014, 23:32
Going through the LT archive documents produced some initially confusing results. The Variation Sheet for 01/11/1984 listed all four trucks as being taken into stock, but with a date in brackets that looked like 1.9.84. The same sheet shows 2418L going to Upton Park (unlicensed) on 01/11/1984, with 2415L and 2417L going to their garages (again unlicensed) on 05/11/1984. The Record of Vehicle Movements sheet for week ending 29/12/1984 also listed the four as being taken into stock, this time with a date of 29/10/1984! Since 2416L at least was at Chiswick by 22/08/1984, I am going to assume that they were delivered in August, formally taken into stock on 1st September, then fitted with trade plates and moved to their garages in early November. Unless something more turns up....

These are indeed now in the possession of the LTM. It seems that they were deemed redundant by LUL and policy dictates that they have to be offered to the LTM. The LTM thought ''crikey they could come in handy'' so had them. They need a bit of work to make them usable but at least one has a future as a Depot shunter at Acton I believe. Look out for them at the open day in the middle of March!Sun 02/02/2014, 20:26
New on 16/05/1974 and entered service on 03/06/1974 to replace former GS47.

VHV899M is listed as into stock on 27/03/1974 from Herbert Lomas. A pencilled amendment states that it was to replace 522FJJ which was written off after an accident.Sat 01/02/2014, 19:59
If this lorry was last licensed in February 1984, how did it get to Barking in 1985?? Ah, just found some photos of it at North Weald in June 1985 and it was on trade plates. By the way, the crane seen here is not the one it originally had with LT.

Well, according to Ian's Bus Stop, it was sold to Hoskyns Group plc (now Capgemini UK) in July 1991, and on to a private owner in West Sussex in June 1994. It was last taxed in November 1998, so if it's still around then it isn't being used for driving...

I wonder if this is a modern version of the old LR-suffixed Land Rover which acted as a HV Mains Fault Investigation Vehicle?Wed 25/09/2013, 12:32

Many thanks for the information. I wonder if the battery van has been re-allocated or disposed of.Sun 01/09/2013, 16:15
Well spotted, thanks for that. The building in the centre of this photo is still recognisable today but where the tower wagon shed was is now occupied by a tyre fitters.Sun 01/09/2013, 16:13
I walked past here every school day from 1948 to 1953. This is London Road, Queen Elizabeth Road was not on a trolley route.

I lived in Kingston when the van was new, I don't recognise the wide road.Mon 26/08/2013, 00:05
Following some correspondence it has been determined that the AEC works was actually in the same location as the later Ferry Lane Industrial Estate (ie to the north of Blackhorse Road Station).Sun 25/08/2013, 12:41
A couple of points to clarify about this location. This is still the main access to and from the depot but there is now a connection between Cam Road and Kerrison Road about 20 metres from the junction with High Street, meaning that vehicles can bypass the latter point. There is also a second road entrance at the south end of the depot on Abbey Road, although this appears to be for emergency use only. Visiting here during the day time is not usually very productive, and the only decent view into the depot is reserved for occupants of the newish offices and flats. However, as with some other depots, a night time visit can be interesting. I recently spent 2 hours standing at the junction shown above and noted about 60 vehicles, the busiest time being between midnight and 1am. 6 vehicles passed from elsewhere on High Street, while 56 came out of the depot itself. These included a few from the related allocations at North Crescent and Westferry Circus and also several of the facilities vans which used to be based at Acton Works. Finally please be aware that hanging around here at night is not something I would recommend that you do on your own!Fri 16/08/2013, 18:25
NK59DFX was over 3.5t in weight so was unavailable for a lot of the engineers to drive due to licensing issues. Perhaps explaining the regular transit.Wed 14/08/2013, 19:41
This van was made redundant mostly due to it exceeding 3.5t, meaning only holders of LGV licenses could drive it.Wed 14/08/2013, 19:40
DS62ZXE is parked behind, one of three used that day.Thu 01/08/2013, 07:55
I 'heard' they were going to be refurbished after years of languishing there may be some work for the pair. Back of the 'Moggy' is a compressor and the front is a coupling, nothing fancy, just a pin type coupler for attacthing to wagons fitted with an RCH coupling hook.

Still no reports of further Merivas at Epsom. However, what I did notice today is that these cars have the passenger doors hinged at the back (like the old London taxis), hence both handles are near the centre.Sat 13/07/2013, 00:12
RL92 is now at Cobham Hall at Brooklands.Wed 03/07/2013, 02:07
That looks like a Scharfenburg coupling.Mon 01/07/2013, 17:13
It is a small crane on the flatbed.Thu 09/05/2013, 15:23
It's based at Plumstead, but permanently stationed at Lewisham Mon-Sat mornings awaiting calls.Wed 08/05/2013, 21:24
This vehicle was a Passenger Data operated vehicle at London Buses, despite the blue skirt. The orange light was fitted as the vehicle was used frequently to affix survey plates to bus stops. Tue 30/04/2013, 20:16

Excellent early '70s colour photos of 1079Q, 746P & 747P. Neil F.Wed 20/02/2013, 01:38
This looks similar to the plastic kit made by Keilcraft about 30 years ago. Except that was a van and this is a tilt lorry/van. A relatively easy conversion and the kits are still common, I think they may still be produced by Knightwing. Tue 05/02/2013, 00:28
YT60HNY back here again today (1/2/2013)Fri 01/02/2013, 14:19

It seems probable that the dropside body off 1644F was refitted to Leyland Terrier 2213L. The back of the latter vehicle is also visible in this photograph, more clearly seen here.Mon 03/12/2012, 00:02

N416CMT (in the background) was indeed repainted red later in November. However, it was also transferred back to Dartford, seemingly replaced by similar (and already red) N415CMT going the other way.

On going back through some contemporary lists, it appears that 3335L was indeed B949COG rather than B949GOG, so it is almost certainly the vehicle shown here. I wonder where the reference to GOG came from then?!Mon 12/11/2012, 13:41
We have now had an official fleetlist, but it doesn't really help much. Although it confirms that LBSL Transit NK60FVE should be 7163F (thus freeing up the number 7193), both the LUL Transit and JNP Astra are shown as 7198!Sun 21/10/2012, 13:52
It appears the trailers may have only been given separate fleetnumbers in May 1955. References to the trailers in official LT documents before that time quoted only the LT body number (or the fleetnumber of the prime-mover). MC-prefixed numbers were first seen on documents dated 16/05/1955.Mon 08/10/2012, 12:28
If that yellow & blue Battenburg is reflective I think that's technically illegal in non-police use.Thu 04/10/2012, 15:52

Note the controller's car (Vauxhall Vectra) in the background. This (one of two) can often be found here or at BexleyheathThu 13/09/2012, 07:47
A possible reason for GM03TOW going is it may not of been LEZ compliant? the chassis for SN08 is a tipper chassis which do tend to be mounted higher Wed 05/09/2012, 09:21
If it helps, I was in NP garage on 26/08/12 and it was in the garage for the few hours I was there, I believe it is their engineering van. Doesn't look like a Go-Ahead purchase as they normally go for mid-roof and wouldn't add yellow lettering to it. Also saw MF1 in there (electric dropside transit) The Galaxy cars on the left are owned by Addison Lee, to whom Go-Ahead pay a fortune for ferry duties, honouring an earlier contract entered into by First Group.

Now licensed again and has been seen in the nearby public car parkSun 12/08/2012, 14:27
This car was seen plugged-in to a dedicated charging point in the staff car park at Loughton Station on 08/08/2012. As such it has been added to the database.Fri 10/08/2012, 13:36
This is the radio car, used by officials to travel to incidents. Based here as Camberwell is the only location where there are controllers on duty 24 hours.Thu 02/08/2012, 12:42
Do Not Walk Close To This Vehicle At Any TimeMon 23/07/2012, 15:31

The tram is 1858, once kept at Chessington Zoo (when Zoos were still called Zoos). On the right is the front of 1521 and the back end of 260. This was a cracking event, probably never to be repeated and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to go. Well done everyone at EATM and everyone else involved.Thu 12/07/2012, 20:32
The other Trolleybus is 260 (CUL 260).Thu 12/07/2012, 20:23
The trolleybus to the right is a Q1 class # 1812 a BUT dating from 1948. All I can say for certain about the other trolleybus is that it is an AEC (you can tell by the wheel hubs).Thu 12/07/2012, 14:00
I spotted this vehicle in Basildon yesterday (15/06/2012). What it was doing in Basildon I have no idea.Sat 16/06/2012, 22:45
As the side logos are ETB it could possibly be E58 with the front panel(s) off of E22 and thus has the correct registrationMon 11/06/2012, 11:47
The bonnet/nearside front wing seems to be a slightly different shade of red on E22. An accident repair perhaps using panels from the other vehicle?Mon 11/06/2012, 11:07
This vehicle like any of the cars is available for use by the management team to attend site meetings etc. I believe once Stratford has a charging point set up it will move over there.Wed 16/05/2012, 21:58
All six of this type (L62-L67)of Battery loco reported cut up during March/April after standing stored off track and minus bogies in a corner of Ruislip Yard. Cut on site .Mon 07/05/2012, 22:45
Thanks Ray. Noted and corrected. Strange that I got it right with the database entry then wrong on the photo caption....!Mon 30/04/2012, 23:49
This is what used to be the Training Square. By this time, the bus training school had hived off all its work to the pseudo-companies, and departed. CDS then took over the accomodation and vacated their site by the Bollo Lane gate. Mon 30/04/2012, 23:31

Well spotted Adam. The Ital was a (slight) restyling of the Marina. The plan had originally been to use the 'Marina Ital' name, and I adopted this so as to show the continuity of the design.Wed 21/03/2012, 11:16
