Also present at the ERU press event at Canary Wharf on 9th February 2012 was 'traditional' liveried Mercedes Atego 2597. As this view shows, the main benefit of the specialised design is to allow rapid access to any of the equipment carried.

I've been told thoughts are turning to the next generation of these vehicles, which would seem to imply a much shorter life than their Volvo or Mercedes predecessors.
