The joint British Transport Police / Tube Lines Emergency Response Unit was launched at a press event at Canary Wharf on 9th February 2012. As mentioned, the purpose of the trial is to speed up incident response times by permitting the use of blue lights and two-tone sirens. The new lights are seen to effect on re-liveried Mercedes Atego 2593, while alongside is one of the two BTP Iveco units. The latter are likely to become more involved in ERU work in future.

The blue Iveco is in full ERU use (i.e. all the police equipment - whatever that was - has been removed and replaced by railway items, the other BTP LWB Iveco has also followed suit).
