83Q was an AEC Mercury 4-ton tower wagon that had been new in 1936 as fleet number 195. During its 25-year career it was based at various tram and trolleybus depots, although the date and location of this picture is unknown. The oldest service vehicle in the current (mid-2007) central fleet is 17-year old 2474M.
