Details: London Buses had been split up into 12 operational units in 1989 as a precursor to privatisation. It would seem that, for the first few years at least, these units had the choice of continuing to be supplied with service vehicles by Central Distribution Services, or arranging their own supply of vehicles. Metroline was one of the companies that chose the latter option and in April 1991 they received four Ford vans with consecutive H74xGLW registrations. The first three were Escort vans, including H742GLW seen here. Although lettered for Cricklewood Engineering, it was photographed at Edgware Bus Station, probably not long after it was delivered. The bus in the background is a Leyland Olympian in the distinctive grey and green livery of London Country North West, and it has 'Watfordwide' fleetnames. H742GLW lasted quite a long time, and was apparently given the later Metroline livery of red with a blue skirt. It was still in stock in late 2005 but had been withdrawn by mid-2007.
