First seen at Acton Works in late August 2025, this vehicle is a bit of a mystery. LT73EAK is an Isuzu Forward F110.240 mini dustcart with TfL lettering on a white livery. The body, built by UK firm Terberg Matec (a subsidiary of Dutch Royal Terberg Group), is not of the usual compactor type, though it has a pivoted framework that is most likely used to lift and tip wheeled bins. The lettering appears to be applied to the bodywork (rather than on labels), suggesting that it is a long-term fleet member, although other evidence suggests it is only on hire. LT73EAK was first licensed in December 2023 and has not had a V5C issued since. So, either it has been with TfL since then, or it is owned by a hire company. Seen at Acton Works on 20th September 2025.

Seen in the top car park at Acton Works on 20th September 2025 was an anonymous white Renault Kangoo van, MT25GVF. It remains to be seen whether this is a long-term addition to the fleet or just a hire.

Most of the original fleet of vehicles leased in 2018 to support the Elizabeth Line have been replaced in recent months. 9455R is one of (at least) eight Renault Kangoo electric crew vans allocated to the operation, and was seen in the car park at Plumstead Depot on 18th September 2025. Visible in the background is VW Caddy Maxi crew van 8637VW, believed to be the last white/blue/purple vehicle to remain in service. It is due to be replaced by a further delivery of electric vehicles in the next few weeks.

Another four new electric vehicles were delivered to the Elizabeth Line depot in Plumstead in autumn 2025, following on from the batch of 15 Ford Transit crew vans. 9461F-9464F are Ford Transit Custom crew vans, the first of the updated design to feature in the central fleet. They have standard TfL white livery and feature a mock front grille similar to the styling applied to several other electric car and van designs. This photo taken inside the depot (with special permission) on 18th September 2025 shows 9464F and 9462F, with 9461F on the left.

Stagecoach London added another Vauxhall Vivaro electric van to its fleet in summer 2025, to replace Ford Transit Custom van MJ20UVH at Plumstead. DW25RXF differs from other Vivaros in the fleet due to it being a 2024-facelift model, lacking the grille between the headlamps. It is also white and had not yet received any lettering when seen at Plumstead Garage on 18th September 2025. Note that the van appears to have a glazed panel inboard of the offside headlamp, but not one on the opposite side. Stagecoach national fleetnumber 91479 is assigned.

The first 75-reg service vehicle to be reported was AY75FZH, a Ford Transit Courier Mk2 van found at Metroline's Hayes Garage on 18th September 2025. The type, colour, light-bar and registration suggest that this will be a Metroline vehicle, although no lettering was (yet) carried. Given that Metroline has also recently taken a batch of white Renault Kangoo vans, I was surprised to see Fords still being added. However, the Renaults were electric and it may be that some garages are not yet ready to operate such vehicles. Note that Hayes Garage is not used for any 'live' TfL bus services. It is instead mainly used to house the co-owned Westbus bus and coach fleet, plus a large number of withdrawn Metroline buses. It could be that this van has replaced venerable VW Caddy RCZ7361, which would suggest it will not be seen very often.

The second TfL Renault Kangoo found at West Croydon Bus Station on 18th September 2025 was 9401R. Similar 9404R plus the hired van (per the previous photo) are presumably hidden behind 9401R, although the reason for their presence here is not known.

West Croydon Bus Station does not seem to have a permanent allocation of service vehicles, or at least not any that are there when I visit! However, on 18th September 2025, Peter found two TfL Renault Kangoo vans present. Shown here is 9404R, which is one of several that seem to have taken over whatever role it was that the Toyota Yaris cars previously performed. The van parked behind was also in TfL use (with a notice in the windscreen), but the fact that Peter did not photograph it as well suggests it was in anonymous white and most likely a hire.

You wait ages for a bus garage open day and then three come along all together. After Swanley on 23rd August and Crawley on 6th September, it was the turn of Stagecoach London's Catford garage to hold an event on 13th September 2025. The open day was to mark the 111th anniversary of the first opening of the garage, and there was also a running day along most of route 54 (which passes the garage) with a very varied collection of preserved vehicles in operation. Unfortunately there was nothing of interest (service vehicle wise) at the garage itself, so here we see LBSL VW Crafter Incident Response Unit van 9057VW passing nearby. This van is based at Eltham Bus Station but has not been shown on LTSV since it was freshly-delivered to Acton Works in February 2020.

Another Metrobus car seen during the Crawley open day on 6th September 2025 was VW Tiguan 8146 (EK14ZNA), although this photo was actually taken in Crawley two days later (8th September) which was sunnier. Of note is that the Metrobus fleetnames are of the latest style, without the previous ellipse around the 'Metro' section, but with diagonal lines on the M.

Another service vehicle seen during the open day at Metrobus Crawley on 6th September 2025 was Ford Transit van HT70KCC, fleetnumber 8137. Dating from 2021, the silver livery suggests that it was not acquired from new, while DVLA data shows that the last V5C was issued in July 2024. Dual Metrobus / Brighton & Hove fleetnames are carried.

Seen at Crawley Garage during the Metrobus open day on 6th September 2025, EX13KPU is a Ford Kuga that has been given fleetnumber 8145. Of note is that this has Metrobus fleetnames only, with no mention of Brighton & Hove.

Metrobus held an open-day at their Crawley Garage on 6th September 2025, which explains the visitors queuing behind this van. EA68DXR is a Ford Transit Connect van with fleetnumber 8127 and joint Metrobus and Brighton & Hove fleetnames. The increasing integration of these two fleets, particularly in terms of service vehicles, means it is no longer practical to separate the Metrobus vehicles. As such, they are no longer included in the LTSV database, although I am happy to continue to include photos as and when.

These vans are proving troublesome! Go-Ahead London used a number of anonymous white Nissan NV250 vans from 2023 onwards. The vans all had HG21*** registrations, but in early 2025 it appeared that they had all gone (back to the hire company?). However, a few have since resurfaced, along with some additional ones. Ray found HG21XRW at the side of Camberwell Garage on 6th September 2025. Note the barrel alongside. It was a long time before I twigged that Q8 Oils come from Kuwait!

Every time I get sent a photo of a Dynes Recovery tow truck, it seems to be a new one that has not been seen before! Peter caught Scania DR74RJP (named Freddie Jnr) pulling Arriva London T155 through Croydon on 31st August 2025, the bus having failed with starter motor trouble while on a duty on night bus N250. T155 was back in service the following day, although all of the elderly Enviro 400s at Thornton Heath Garage should have been replaced by new electric buses by now. As usual, problems with installation of charging infrastructure are the cause, and most of the new buses have been put into temporary service elsewhere.

GJ23UUK is a Peugeot Boxer van used by DLR Keolis Amey as an Emergency Response Vehicle. It was seen at Canning Town Bus Station on 30th August 2025. Note that, unlike most vans with this operator, this one does not appear to have a fleetnumber applied.

Allocated fleetnumber 203, Ford Transit Connect van BX11FKF has been with Go-Coach since at least 2020. It is a high-roof version and has lettering for Infrastructure Support Services. Most of the Go-Coach operation is beyond the Greater London boundary, and this 14-year old van is unlikely to be ULEZ compliant. It still looks in good condition though. Seen entering Swanley Garage during the open day held on 23rd August 2025.

Go-Coach has an associated bus recovery and repair operation that trades as 'The Bus Doctor', and several of their vehicles were in evidence during the open day at Swanley Garage on 23rd August 2025. Shown here is a Ford Transit Custom crew van carrying the registration WLT868 which originated on a London Transport Routemaster bus. The van is of course much younger, dating from 2018.

Go-Coach, which has recently rebranded itself as Go Bus, had a trio of Ford Transit Connect vans in its fleet, allocated numbers 201-203, although the numbers do not appear to be applied externally. Two of the vans were seen during the open day held at Swanley Garage on 23rd August 2025, and here we see low-roof BX12USL (201).

Bus operator Go-Coach held an open-day at its Swanley Garage on 23rd August 2025, to mark 100 years since the garage was first opened. The garage was used by London Transport and LCBS for many years and has seen various other users since, with Go-Coach moving in a few years ago. Seen leaving the garage on that day was Iveco EuroStar recovery truck S855WYC. Although relatively elderly (first licensed in 1999), the truck had only recently been acquired and looked smart in Go-Coach's yellow and purple livery but with lettering for co-owned operation 'The Bus Doctor'. During the open-day, a display of preserved buses, cars and other vehicles was put on a few miles down the road at West Kingsdown, and S855WYC was parked there for most of the day, alongside some (even) older recovery vehicles.

Fleetnumbers 9439R to 9458R are on a batch of 20 Renault Kangoo Electric crew vans spread across a number of locations, although a couple have not yet been seen. The largest concentration is at the Elizabeth Line depot at Plumstead, which has eight, while it looks as though Turnpike Lane Bus Station has three. 9441R was seen at Walthamstow Bus Station on 20th August 2025. In recent years this location has not had a specific allocation, using vehicles from Turnpike Lane as and when needed.

Peter found two TfL Renault Kangoo vans at Walthamstow Bus Station on 20th August 2025. It would appear that diesel van 9405R (in the foreground) is one of several that have replaced the elusive Toyota Yaris cars, and it is probably not allocated to any particular location but liable to turn up anywhere as required. Electric crew van 9441R behind (which is also in the next photo) is more likely to be a local 'bus station' vehicle and it has also been seen at Turnpike Lane.

Some of the batch of Renault Kangoo electric crew vans delivered in early 2025 have been allocated to Turnpike Lane Bus Station, replacing Nissan Leaf cars. Present on 15th August 2025 were 9446R (on the left) and 9443R.

A couple more 73-reg Vauxhall Combo E vans with Arriva London have been tracked down recently. Ray found FL73VMT parked at the offices behind Wood Green Garage on 15th August 2025. Note the West Ham United football club logo on the bonnet.

Dave visited the Elizabeth Line depot in Plumstead on 14th August 2025 and was surprised to find no fewer than 15 brand new Ford Transit vans present. All were in TfL white livery and were of the electric 'E-Transit' variant, the first examples for the central fleet. After much peering through the fences, Dave managed to read the fleetnumbers on most of the vans, these being in the range 9470F to 9486F. Shown here is 9482F. The arrival of so many vans was unexpected, since the Elizbeth Line previously had a fleet of just seven Transit crew vans.

The last photo from the visit to Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025 shows TfL Renault Kangoo van 9409R. This was parked in the area nearest to the Jubilee line and DLR tracks, and hence could perhaps be seen from passing trains.

Ray found a small quantity of Renault Kangoo vans in unmarked white at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025. Given that we know this location has previously operated numbered service vehicles in an anonymous condition, it seemed sensible to add these to the database, particularly as MC73YKX (shown here) has been seen on the night run-outs on several occasions over the past year.

Seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025, 9263F is a long-wheelbase Ford Transit Connect van, a type that is very much out-numbered by the crew van variants. On the right is an older Renault Kangoo Maxi in LUL livery.

Despite the arrival of lots of new small vans in 2024 and 2025, a number of older examples remain in use. Seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025 was LUL-branded Renault Kangoo Maxi van 8529R, which is very nearly 8 years old.

9223F seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August is one of the TfL Ford Transit Connect crew vans that were registered in Yorkshire rather than in London. On the right is a VW Caddy Maxi crew van that appears to be in unmarked white. This could have been one of 8930VW/8931VW.

Totally devoid of any markings (apart from just one 'speed limit' label), it would be easy to miss this vehicle. However, thanks to the lists that we used to receive from LUL, we know that this VW Transporter minibus is actually fleet number 8933VW. Several anonymous vehicles have been based at Stratford Market in recent years, although we don't know why. An LUL VW Transporter crew van is on the left, a VW Crafter in fron and a TfL Ford Transit Connect crew van on the right. Stratford Market Depot, 13th August 2025.

Ford Transit dropside truck 8466F was photographed at a dealership prior to delivery to London in 2017 (see photo), but it was not caught again until Ray found it at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025. Six VW Crafter crew vans are based at Stratford Market Depot, while three plain vans are at Hainault. All have white livery with no skirt or stripes, and all were delivered with LUL roundels on the front and sides. 9146VW, seen at Stratford Market on 13th August 2025, still has these, while 9147VW alongside has gained TfL blue roundels.

Another TfL Ford Transit Connect at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August, 9305F is an example of the short van, which is outnumbered by the longer variant and crew vans. It had not been seen since it passed through Acton Works when new in October 2024. Alongside is VW Crafter crew van 9147VW, which (as noted recently) now carries TfL plain blue roundels.

There are at least 49 TfL service vehicles with registrations in the LD24O** series, all being Ford Transit Connect crew vans numbered between 9169F and 9219F. A recently acquired fleetlist (that showed fleetnumbers but not registrations) suggests that there are a further 30 Transit Connects that have yet to be seen. 9173F was seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025, parked next to identical 9178F.

Stratford Market Depot is home to around 100 service vehicles, but it is almost impossible to see any of them from outside. This explains why there have not been any photos on LTSV until now, and also why some die-hard SV fans find it profitable to stand on Cam Road during the night-time run-outs. Thanks to his inside connections, Ray finally managed to get permission to visit the depot on 13th August 2025, and to photograph many of the vehicles in the large yard. Over 40 of the TfL livery Ford Transit Connect vans are believed to be based here, including 9174F seen here. The allocation still includes some of the older Renault Kangoo and VW Caddy vans, like 8906VW visible in the background.

Since about 2009, Metroline has standardised on the Ford Transit Connect for its small van needs. Hence it was surprising to see them take a batch of Renault Kangoos recently. Dave photographed MM25UCP at Perivale CELF on 12th August 2025 (as shown here), and found a further a further three at Cricklewood Garage the same day. All were unmarked, although an example with red Metroline lettering was seen later.

Lillie Bridge Depot is expected to close some time in the next few years, to release valuable inner London land for redevelopment. The location is still very active though, and it is not yet clear where all its functions would be moved to. In this view taken from Ashfield House on 8th August 2025, very nearly 40 service vehicles are visible. The most numerous types are Ford Transit vans and dropsides.

On 28th July 2025, Transport UK Enviro 200 bus 8201 broke-down just outside West Croydon Bus Station, blocking the tram track and causing a lot of disruption. The engineers from Beddington Cross garage were soon on the scene, using Peugeot Expert van KV69NNP. Notably, this seems to be the first of the van fleet to have its Abellio logos replaced with Transport UK ones, even though the company changed names over a year ago (in spring 2024).

Although the database has not yet been updated, this Stagecoach London Vauxhall Vivaro minibus DV73FRZ is now known to be allocated national fleetnumber 91810. It was seen on 22nd July 2025 leaving Romford Station for another run back to its home garage of Rainham.

Once Renault Kangoo Van 9423R moved off, Peter was able to get a better photo of Ford Transit van 9107F. It was at Centrale Tram stop in Croydon on 15th July 2025 and was the only Mk8 Ford Transit van to carry the Trams white/blue/green livery (Mk8 Transits 8566F and 9108F also had this livery but were dropsides rather than vans).

Peter found two service vehicles parked on the tracks at Centrale Tram Stop in Croydon on 15th July 2025, presumably during an engineering possession! Nearest was Renault Kangoo van 9423R with TfL markings, which has also been seen at Therapia Lane Depot so is no doubt allocated to the Trams operation. This Isuzu Forward box truck has featured on LTSV before (see photo from June 2024), when it had lettering for Balfour Beatty Integrated Track Team, along with small LUL roundels. Since then the markings on LN20YLP have been changed to plain TfL ones, rather like the current standard fleet livery. Although it now looks like a 'proper' service vehicle, it is not clear if the vehicle is actually operated directly by TfL. On 13th July 2025 it was found parked at Chigwell Station during engineering work, along with LUL mobile office WX08KUY. Note the tail-lift at the rear with handrails and what appears to be a set of access steps.

Volkswagen Caddy Maxi crew van 8331VW was new in March 2017 and used until June 2024 when it was returned off lease. Dave found it parked in Salisbury on 10th July 2025, still in LUL white/blue/red livery but with most lettering removed. The roof-rack appears to be a recent addition.

Go-Ahead London has almost 60 Mercedes Vito minibuses for use as crew ferry vehicles, but has not added any new examples since autumn 2021. In this photo taken at Croydon (C) Garage on 10th July 2025, Vito RK68GVZ is on the right, while on the left is FV25UXU, one of a pair of Ford Tourneo Connect minibuses now also used as crew ferries (the other was FV25UZD in unmarked black). It is possible that these were hired just for the busy summer season, when Go-Ahead runs special services to events such as the Wimbledon Tennis and Hampton Court Flower Show. Or they could be hires pending the delivery of new vehicles.

9147VW is one of six Volkswagen Crafter crew vans delivered in October 2020 for use by LUL. When new they carried plain white livery with LUL roundels and lettering, but this example has had the logos changed to TfL ones, possibly after repairs. Most of the Elizabeth Line vehicles in white/blue/purple livery have recently been withdrawn following the delivery of new electric vans in TfL white livery. Back on 26th June 2025, Dave found Ford Transit crew van 8650F at Westbourne Park. The brick building behind is the lower part of Westbourne Park bus garage, while the ramped roadway behind the van leads to a railway aggregates depot and a Network Rail track access point (note the road-rail hydraulic hoist behind the van). There are two sidings between the Elizabeth Line tracks at this point, used for reversing trains that have terminated at Paddington from the east.

LC66FKH is a Renault Kangoo van that has been with Ensignbus since at least late 2018 and possibly since it was new in late 2016. It has recently been given large Engineering Support lettering along with a yellow safety stripe, and it was seen at Canning Town Bus Station on 21st June 2025. The buses in the background are of some interest. Behind the van is Ensignbus 605 (YJ13HKE), an Optare Versa recently acquired from Warrington and still in their red and blue livery. It was being used on DLR replacement services. On the left is Go-Ahead London LT915 in the East London Transit livery meant for routes EL1, EL2 and EL3, although it was here working on trunk route 5.

The delivery of nearly 300 new small vans over the past year and a bit has seen the departure of many 66 and 17 registered vans, although there seems to have been a change in policy to also replace the remaining cars in the fleet (even though these were mainly hybrids and generally relatively young). As such, there are still a lot of 7-8 year old vans in service. 8548R is a Renault Kangoo Maxi new in November 2017 and a regular night-time visitor to Baker Street Station. It would appear that it has been used by the same member of staff throughout, since it can sometimes be seen during the day parked near Leytonstone Station, as here on 14th June 2025.

Yet another Falcon Vauxhall Corsa van at Byfleet on 8th June 2025, this one has been included for its unusual registration. BGZ4790 is a Northern Ireland mark, and these are often used to personalise (or disguise the age of) vehicles on the mainland. In this instance, the registration is original and has been carried since it was new in April 2016. The last V5C was issued in April 2025, and the tax expired at the end of that month, so it was presumably out of use when seen.

Another recent addition to the Falcon Buses/Coaches support fleet is Vauxhall Corsa van WN66CSX, seen at Byfleet on 8th June 2025. Whilst some earlier vans were given a livery featuring a red skirt topped by a blue stripe (as visible on similar MK14NRY parked behind), the latest additions have a more 'budget' variation where the coloured stripes are applied only as part of the logo.

Discounting company takeovers, second-life service vehicles are rare but not unheard of. The latest example is Ford Fiesta van LL17TXN, which is now with Falcon Buses and was photographed at their Byfleet base on 8th June 2025. The blue skirt is a hint to its previous role as fleetnumber 8427F with LUL. The red stripe and lettering has been removed, and it now has Falcon logos on the sides. This vehicle illustrates a problem we have in obtaining information about service vehicles. In the absence of official information, we rely a lot on DVLA data, including dates of V5Cs. These are normally issued each time a vehicle changes hands, but can also be issued for other reasons. With 8427F, a new V5C was issued in May 2022, from which we deduced that the van had been withdrawn. However, it was then seen still in service with LUL. Even stranger, we now know that it has definitely left the LUL fleet, yet it has not had a new V5C or a change of licensing date. Perhaps it is still owned by the same leasing company?

The Stagecoach London service vehicle fleet currently features electric Vauxhall Vivaros in both van form (for engineering) and minibus (for crew ferry work). DV73FRP is one of the latter and is based at Rainham Garage. It is allocated national fleetnumber 91812, although this is not displayed on the vehicle, whereas several adverts and QR codes for bus driver recruitment are. It was photographed at the Atlanta Boulevard bus stand in Romford on 27th May 2025.

Another Transport UK Vauxhall Mokka car now, this time 6886 (FJ17YCB) seen at West Norwood (Cheviot Road) on 24th May 2025. The car behind is Vauxhall Astra ASZ5553, which coincidentally has a sequential fleetnumber of 6887.

London United (along with London Sovereign and London Transit) was sold by RATP to First recently, the sale being completed on 28th February 2025. Within a couple of months, virtually all of the buses had received new 'first bus' logos, as seen here on E200 BE37048 at Fulwell Garage on 24th May 2025. For the crew ferry cars, it seems that the old RATP logos are being removed but not replaced. Dacia Sandero cars D75114 (MJ69ZBU) and D75110 (MJ69ZKV) are both now anonymous, apart from fleetnumbers. Note that the car on the left also has the number 3 in the side windows. This was a 'local' fleetnumber applied while it was based at Park Royal.

At the 'rubbish' end of the new lorry parking area at Acton Works on 24th May 2025 were four dustcarts, comprising Mercedes Econics WO66HFL and WO66HHS and both of the DAF LF mini dustcarts, DX67KXH and DX67KXJ. Changes to the former van yard appear to have included resurfacing and the installation of new light masts, while the fencing in the background suggests that the work is not fully complete yet.

Seen in the old DSM Van Yard at Acton Works on 24th May 2025 were Volvo FE250 dropside KY73JXF, MAN TGM demountable WU67AJX (with body DB10) and MAN TGM dropside LV66XYC. Hired DAF NC14NDC appears again, on the far right.

The lorry yard at Acton Works was vacated at the start of May 2025, with the larger vehicles now kept in what used to be the DSM Van Yard within the works. This is a shame, in that it will no longer be possible to easily see the vehicles from passing trains. On the other hand, the new location does offer some new opportunities for photographs of line-ups without fences getting in the way. On 24th May 2025, the vehicles present included (left to right) hired DAF flatbed NC14NDC (which has been in use for about 4 years), Volvo FMX curtainsider KM72XPV (which I noticed has no operator lettering on its cab), MAN TGM demountable LV66XYD, Volvo FMX flatbed KY23LNO and MAN TGM dropside RK14ETT.

I haven't received many photos of London Buses Incident Response Unit vans recently, perhaps because they are just getting on with the job. Also, all 45 have already been shown on LTSV. 9068VW is mainly based at Morden Station and was photographed at an empty Richmond Bus Station on 24th May 2025.

Dynes Recovery seems to have a rapidly growing fleet of tow trucks, judging by the quantity of new examples that turn up in photos. KU74ZVV is a 4-axle Volvo FH, seen on 17th May 2025 passing Gunnersbury Station with Arriva London DW569 on tow. The location is slightly odd, given that this bus is based at Enfield. It had been on route 121 the previous evening, while it was back at work (on route 191) two days afterwards.

Dave visited Welling to see 9309F on 15th May 2025, and nearby he found Volkswagen Crafter crew van 9144VW. New in October 2020, this van normally works out of Stratford Market Depot at night. Since it was new, it has lost the maker's DuoVan lettering, but gained a fold-over flap on the front (used for hazardous materials warnings).

Ford Transit Connect van 9309F was probably new in October 2024, but it was not seen until Ray found it parked outside a house in Welling in April 2025 (photographed there on the 28th).

The curiously named Vauxhall Mokka is a 'Subcompact crossover SUV' (apparently) that was introduced in 2012. Transport UK has acquired at least three second-hand examples in the past year or so, including WV67RJJ (fleetnumber 6883) seen at Beddington Depot on 13th May 2025. Note that it was in a bay marked as being for crew ferry vehicles for route 109, the crew changes for which are done at West Croydon Bus Station.

Seat Leon car KW65ZVP was acquired by Abellio, probably in 2019, but it was not given company lettering until after the operator was sold by Dutch Railways and rebranded as Transport UK in March 2024. Its fleetnumber of 6820 was also applied for the first time. On 13th May 2025 the car was found parked outside Beddington Depot. Just one car was noted still carrying Abellio names, although most of the vans in the fleet seem to have not yet been updated.

Go-Ahead London operates a few small vans that are believed to be used for administrative functions rather than for engineering or as crew ferries. Most have been in anonymous red, as seen on Ford Fiesta EU16KZE at Merton Garage on 13th May 2025.

Just one more from Bexleyheath today, and it is a bit different. YK74FJG seen at the Arnsberg Way bus stand on 9th May 2025, is a Mini Countryman estate. The second-generation Mini was introduced back in 2001, but it has never featured on LTSV until now. Coincidentally, the latest list from Stagecoach London suggests that they also now have a Mini (in the form of Mini Cooper YG25OLB), though this has not yet been seen or photographed.

A bit posher than most crew ferry cars is this Audi A4 Sport estate, photographed on 1st May 2025 at Bexleyheath Bus Stand. The location means this is almost certainly from Arriva London's Dartford Garage. Arriva's presence in this area is declining, with double-deck routes 99, 269 and 401 all lost to Go-Ahead London from 18th January 2025. Single-deck route B15 follows suit from January 2026, which will leave the 301 as the only Arriva route to terminate in Bexleyheath (the 229 and 492 pass through). Go-Ahead has a batch of Wright StreetDeck Electroliners on order for the routes won, but is using elderly E-class Enviro 400s and WVL-class Volvo B9TLs (like those in the background) until charging facilities are installed. Note that WVL458 on the 269 has an extended side advert, covering the first two windows behind the staircase panel.

9135F is one of three hybrid-electric Ford Transit Custom vans added to the LUL fleet in 2021, and it was earlier based at Edgware Road Station. On 26th April 2025 it was found at Acton Works, and this photo shows the flap below the nearside headlamp that covers the charging socket.

Ford Transit van with hoist WO24KCG is still based at Acton Works (last shown in December 2024), although it is still unmarked, so I am still disinclined to add it to the database. This rear view was taken on 26th April 2025.

I haven't shown any Cycle Hire support vehicles here for a good few years, mainly because I have not been sent any photos! Michael snapped this Maxus E Deliver 3 electric van at Canary Wharf on 23rd April 2025. The fact that all the lettering appears to be on magnetic labels suggests that this vehicle was only on hire.

Falcon Coaches/Buses seem to have added a lot of small vans to their fleet recently, most likely all for use as crew ferry vehicles. Some have retained anonymous liveries, such as Ford Fiesta van BN20WYK seen at the Byfleet depot on 13th April 2025. The yellow safety stripes were almost certainly applied by a previous operator.

On 1st April 2025, I poked my camera through the fence at the Elizabeth Line depot in Plumstead and managed to photograph a couple of the new Renault Kangoo electric crew vans now based there (the majority were however parked awkwardly). This photo shows 9449R, with a similar van facing it on the right. The Ford Transit in the background belongs to Knorr-Bremse, a German engineering firm specialising in railway brakes.

Another photo that is more for information than for quality! Two TfL-branded Ford Transit Connect vans were delivered to London Overground in 2024 but they took some time to positively identify. Both are normally kept in the car park at Silwood Triangle, between the railway lines to Queens Road Peckham and New Cross, and they could often be seen from passing trains but always seemed to be parked in the wrong position to get their numbers. Eventually, on 1st April 2025, I took my super zoom camera to the parallel Somerfield Street and (fortunately) found the vans parked side-on. 9358F on the left is a crew van, while 9290F on the right is a plain van. The other vans present were unmarked and may have been hires or with contractors. 9290F and 9358F replaced Overground-liveried Toyota Yaris cars 9005T and 9006T.

Four LUL Power Supply Ford Transits were parked at Tufnell Park (Station Road) on 1st April 2025, opposite the depot used by that department. Three were mid-height Mk8 Transits, while 8851F (nearest the camera) is a Transit Custom.

These two Ford Transit vans parked on the dead-end Station Road outside the Tufnell Park Power Supply offices on 1st April 2025 show the difference between a crew van and a van. 8843F on the left is a crew van, with additional side windows and seats, while 8861F on the right is a plain van. In both cases, access is by a sliding door in the nearside only.

A surprise find at Tufnell Park Depot on 1st April 2025 was 9460F, the first full-sized Ford Transit added to the central fleet since 2021. It had the new TfL livery of plain white but it also had yellow 'safety' stripes along the waist. We had expected some full-sized vans would be added in due course, though no more have been reported as of mid-June. Perhaps 9460F is a one-off, with specialised interior fit for its role with the power supply section. Also visible are Ford Transit van 8859F (which is a one-off) and Renault Kangoo Maxi van 8855R, while on the right was a trailer belonging to a provider of confined space training. This is likely to be a factor in the work of the power supply department, who may need to access underground cabling conduits and tunnels.

This photo was taken for information rather than for publication, though it turns out to be slightly interesting. It is a zoom shot looking through the doorway of Potters Bar Garage on 1st April 2025, and it shows a Dynes Recovery DAF named Ali. AY74UJV has not appeared on LTSV before. The bus behind is Optare Solo OS68, which was new to Arriva the Shires as their 2468 in 2006. It passed to Arriva London as their OS68 in 2016, following company reorganisation, although it continued to be used on Hampstead Garden Suburb route H2. When that route was re-tendered to Metroline, OS68 was loaned to Metroline, pending the delivery of new Optare Solos. It was then retained to act as a spare, and was eventually bought by Metroline in November 2018, although it was not given a new fleetnumber in the Metroline series. In early 2022 it moved to Potters Bar for use on commercial routes (such as the 242, 305 and PB1). By 2025, only the PB1 remained, and OS68 only saw use as a back-up to electric Optare MetroCity OEM2750. Although no longer in TfL service, it was by then effectively the oldest bus still in passenger use with a 'red' London bus operator. The contract for route PB1 passed to Uno from 31st March, and OS68 was no longer needed. When seen the next day (1st April 2025), it was about to be towed away to the Hayes storage site, pending disposal. OEM2750 was also parked-up in the front yard, with its electronic destination display still on and programmed to show 'For sale'!

Due to its rather remote location, Metroline's Potters Bar garage needs quite a lot of crew ferry vehicles, and this photo shows a further three that were seen on 1st April 2025. Nearest the camera is Ford Puma car AV74ONT, new at the end of 2024. Beyond are a pair of Ford Transit Custom minibuses, AV72UCO and AY71JDZ. In the background are three different buses. On the left is OME2669, an Optare MetroDecker electric. All 28 of Metroline's MetroDeckers are based here, although they appear to have reliability issues, with a number off the road at any given time. In the middle is Enviro 400 TE903 dating from 2008 and now demoted to training work, with a lime green 'wrap' to advertise for driver recruitment. At the back is WDE2769, a Wrightbus StreetDeck Electroliner. This was the first WDE for Metroline and has been at Potters Bar since new in late 2022. Many more WDEs have been delivered since and, although none were ordered for PB routes, four further examples of the type are currently based here pending the completion of electrical infrastructure at other garages.

Another minibus photographed at Potters Bar Garage on 1st April 2025 was Renault Trafic MD23RHZ in unmarked maroon. Unlike other crew ferry vehicles here, it had a 'duty' number on a paper in the windscreen (892). New in autumn 2023, it was initially used by Brentford Garage (and possibly also Perivale West) before moving to Potters Bar by the end of that year. I wish I had waited for the shadow-casting bus to move now...

Two new Ford Tourneo Custom electric minibuses were delivered to Metroline in March 2025 and allocated to Potters Bar Garage. They are registered AY25JBU and AY25JCU, which could be confusing, although perhaps no more so than the vehicles that they replaced - AY21KFT and AY21KKT! New AY25JBU was caught leaving the garage on 1st April 2025.

The first 25-registration service vehicles to be reported where a pair of minibuses for Metroline's Potters Bar Garage that were delivered in March 2025. As with earlier vehicles there, no lettering is carried, but the new ones are white as opposed to the normal red. Both are Ford Tourneo Custom electric minibuses, with a revised grille design. They are also to the revised, slightly more angular, Custom design. This was introduced in 2023 but the only other applications as London SVs so far have been a few hired minibuses at Go-Ahead London's Henley Road Garage. AY25JCU was photographed being charged-up in the front yard of Potters Bar Garage on 1st April 2025.

This is the location which we have called Royal Oak Elizabeth Line. It has two parts, one on each side of Lord Hills Bridge. The yard to the east (opposite the Hammersmith & City line station platforms) has been shown on LTSV before, but now appears to be out of use. The yard to the west of the bridge contains a building, visible on the right here, which is actually atop the portals where the Elizabeth Line tracks emerge from the tunnel section. It also has a parking area which contained (on 1st April 2025) Elizabeth Line liveried Ford Transit crew van 8646F and TfL-branded Renault Kangoo electric crew van 9440R, plus a couple of hired or contractor's vehicles. This view was obtained by peering over the wall from the section of Harrow Road that is beneath the A40 Westway, but there is also a gated gap in the wall nearby, from which you can see into the yard. In the background are the Great Western mainline tracks out of Paddington. Interestingly, vehicular access to this yard is via a roadway that runs parallel to the railway almost as far as Paddington itself.
