| Over the past 20-odd years, Sutton Garage has mainly operated bus types that are different to other Go-Ahead London garages. First were the EVL class of East Lancs bodied Volvo B7TLs, then replaced by the DOEs which were Alexander Dennis Tridents with Optare Olympus bodies (the Olympus started out as an East Lancs product by the way). This local distinctiveness is now being lost as the garage is receiving a large number of group-standard Ee class BYD/Enviro 400 electric double-deckers. When I visited on 24th June 2023, there were still a few DOEs working, including DOE33 parked by the side of the garage. Note the grey diamond stickers on the front and sides of the bus. These were applied to almost all London buses in spring 2023 and are intended to help Fire Brigade staff identify the type of power source the bus has. The use of water or form on a bus with electric motors may not be advisable! Diesel buses have grey diamonds with a graphic of a petrol pump. Alongside was resident engineers van EF19HFS, a standard high-roof Ford Transit Custom van, and one of several which have never gained any company markings. |
