The two numbered cranes at Chiswick Works (968R and 1292R) lasted until the mid-1980s, so photographs are not all that rare. However, the two published today from John Marshall are the first I can recall seeing in colour. 968R was a Jones 2-ton crane, bought second-hand in 1952. It was registered JXE356 but was never (as far as I know) used beyond the confines of the works. Indeed there is no evidence of a number plate in any of the photos seen. It carried standard green livery throughout, and was photographed on 3rd July 1967. |
