Having recently been talking about green cab roofs on grey service vehicles in the 1960s/1970s, this photo reminded me that cream cab roofs had been a similarly short-lived feature in the late 1930s. Leyland Cub Trolleybus Rescue Truck 207C displayed the livery when it was parked at North Finchley in about 1939. The lorry was only a couple of years old at the time, and still carried its original fleetnumber of 222. It was destined to be based at Finchley Depot for many years, moving to Cricklewood in 1956 and being sold in 1962. |
