Details: From the front, the 2nd generation Ford Ranger could be recognised by having slightly raked-back headlamps, in comparison to the almost vertical ones of the 1st generation. Just one Ford Ranger was added to the fleet in 2009, and it turned out to be the last for a while. As a result, no examples of the facelifted 2nd generation Ranger (which had revised head/sidelights) were used as service vehicles. The sole 2009 vehicle was 6786F, used by the Emergency Response Unit and carrying this distinctive livery of white/blue with a yellow bodyside stripe (edged in blue) and a red bonnet. It carried a normal-height hard-top and had a light-bar mounted on the cab roof. Colin photographed 6786F at Caxton Street (off Broadway, Westminster) on 23rd June 2010. It remained in use until September 2012 when it was replaced by Volvo estate car 7481.
