Details: All-white service vehicles were very rare before the mid-1980s, with no more than seven featuring in the numbered fleet (and two of those were ambulances which were more cream than white). Things changed from 1986 and white vans in particular became fairly common for a few years. Among the first to arrive was Ford Escort van 3381F, delivered in October 1986 and seen at Enfield Garage in February 1988. This van was allocated to Distribution Services and the reason for it not being in the standard red livery is not clear. The bus on the left is DMS1833, in use as a trainer and looking smart in the new Leaside livery of red with a thick white waist band and black skirt. |
