Details: Good lord, what a beast! I hardly need to tell you that this is Blackpool, the photo being taken on the 18th of September 2009. Blackpool Transport 938 is what could best be described as a 'Road-rail tower van' (!) and is based on an elderly Unimog chassis. Small retractable rail guide wheels are mounted at the front and back, while the design of the tower platform is remarkably similar to that used by London Transport in the 1930s.

Mike WilsonThis vehicle was previously with Midland Metro, upon arrival in blackpool it replaced an elderly Bedford Brush tower wagon. This is the only ''wierd'' looking tower wagon in the fleet now as the other bedford tower wagon has also been withdrawn. Fri 22/01/2010, 19:55
