TfL has sold off part of the former car park at Wembley Station, and new flats are currently being built there. This means that the remaining parking area can no longer be seen, either from the station or from the parallel Brook Avenue. However, it is still accessible on foot, and there are two newish vans based there. Seen on 1st April 2025 was TfL branded Ford Transit Connect van 9295F. This is presumed to be the replacement for LUL liveried Toyota Prius+ car 8692T.

One more TfL Ford Transit Connect near Griffith House on the night of 31st March 2025. 9395F is one of the shorter variant, referred to as L1H1 compared to L2H1. There are no height options on the current Ford Transit Connect model, but the standard designators include the H indicator anyway.

You might not see this one coming! The 200-odd Ford Transit Connect vans delivered since Spring 2024 are very uniform in their appearance, the only variety being in their configuration (van or crew van), length and fittings (e.g. roof racks). Actually, that is not completely true, since van 9313F lacks the blue roundel on the bonnet. Although not clear in this photo (taken outside Griffith House on the night of 31st March 2025), the sides do have the normal TfL lettering.

The night-time congregations at Griffith House are now dominated by TfL-liveried Ford Transit Connect vans (and crew vans), with just a few LUL-livery Renault Kangoos still to be seen. On the night of 31st March 2025, Dave photographed crew van 9235F on Harcourt Street. This is one of 24 of the type to have Yorkshire registrations, the majority having London ones.

Reading Buses is one of very few operators to remain in public ownership. It is also unusual for making extensive use of route branding, to the extent that most routes have buses in a totally different livery to others. This can be seen on the blue, purple and orange buses in the background. The service vehicle fleet tends to be in a neutral white livery, as seen on Ford Transit Custom Van HY65AUU, photographed at Reading Station on 15th February 2025. This photo has also been added to today's batch so that I can mention that there will be an open day at Reading Buses' Great Knollys Street Depot on Sunday 29th June 2025.

Just one 'oldie' this month, the subject being Docklands Light Railway Emergency Response van 001, a Ford Transit Mk7 van registered BV13UGP. This van has been shown on LTSV before, and has also appeared in model form. This photo, taken at Canning Town Station on 19th October 2013, shows that it had Serco lettering when new (in August 2013). The contract for running the DLR passed to Keolis Amey in December 2014, and the lettering on the van was suitably amended.

Another TfL Renault Kangoo was found by Dave on the last day of March 2025, when he came across 9403R in the lower bus station at Hammersmith. It has chevrons on the back and a safety stripe on the sides and was in use by London Buses staff. What I thought was interesting about this was that the lettering on the rear includes 'Highway Maintenance'. This has been seen in the past on service vehicles (such as those operated by TfL Streets), but I think its use on LBSL vehicles is new. Looking at photos suggests that it might be being applied as standard to any vehicles that get rear chevrons, but (as with so many things) more observations are required. Note the curious passer-by!

Previously shown when brand-new and unlettered, Ford Transit Courier Mk2 van AV24TGF has now gained Metroline lettering and been allocated to Brentford Garage. It was seen nearby on 30th March 2025 outside the London Museum of Water & Steam (formerly Kew Bridge Steam Museum). My unscientific observations on the streets of London suggest that the revised Transit Courier model is selling much better than its predecessor.

Buses within the town of Swindon were run by Swindon Corporation, which became Thamesdown Transport in 1974. Many municipal operators were sold in the years following deregulation in 1986, but Thamesdown remained council-owned for much longer, eventually being bought by the Go-Ahead group in February 2017. The branding of the operation was changed to 'Swindon's Bus Company' with a new livery of blue and green in varying layouts. Derek visited the garage in Swindon on 30th March 2025 and found two service vehicles present. Mercedes Sprinter van BJ60VNU carried fleetnumber 9103 and had the vertically divided livery as also worn by some of the buses (including the Enviro 400 just visible on the right). Alongside was Ford Transit Connect van 9066 HG61OHD in a more restrained overall dark blue scheme. The registration BJ60VNU rang a tiny bell in my memory and I found that Derek had photographed it at Eastleigh way back in July 2013, when it was all white and lettered for Hants & Dorset Trim. The latter company had been bought by Go-Ahead in February 2006. I then realised that HG61OHD had already been shown on LTSV, being photographed at the same location in 2021.

Not previously shown on LTSV, FL23JBZ is one of several Vauxhall Combo vans added to the Arriva London fleet during 2023. It was initially based at the shared Ash Grove garage but moved to Stamford Hill when the latter re-opened in February 2024. On 29th March 2025 it was found at Finsbury Park Bus Station, possibly attending to an issue on Stamford Hill's LT344 parked behind.

The most notable aspect of Transport UK Vauxhall Astra car 6887, seen at Beddington Plough on 28th March 2025, it its registration number ASZ5553. This is a Northern Ireland registration, and there have been a few carried by London service vehicles over the years. They are sometimes applied to replace existing registrations, either to disguise the vehicle age or to add personalisation. However, in this instance, the plate has been carried since the car was new in 2017.

Seen in the layby opposite The Plough pub in Beddington on 28th March 2025 was Transport UK Ford C-Max car 6875 (EK67TVF). This location is used for crew changes on bus route 407, as it is not far from Beddington garage.

In early March I saw a new TfL Renault Kangoo electric crew van passing through Abbey Wood, though I could not tell if it was being used by London Buses or by the Elizabeth Line. The matter was settled when Dave visited the latter's Plumstead Depot on 20th March 2025 and found no fewer than 8 new vans present. He returned a week later (27th March) and took this photo of consecutively numbered 9454R and 9455R. They were in the main car park rather than in the van yard and, although this is also now fenced off from the main road, the mesh of the fence does allow cameras to see through. The new vans have replaced all but one of the VW Caddy Maxi crew vans that formed part of the initial Elizabeth Line fleet.

This TfL Ford Transit Connect van was delivered in spring 2024 and was seen at Acton Works on multiple occasions through the rest of that year and into 2025. However, on 26th March 2025 it turned up at West Croydon Bus Station, suggesting that it was in use with London Buses (LBSL). It could be that the generic livery now carried is allowing vehicles to be used on a sort of pool basis, switching between operations as required.

The Elizabeth Line has an Incident Response vehicle stationed at Whitechapel Station. Until recently, this was a Renault Kangoo that was kept in a small yard off Durward Street just east of the station. However, from early 2025 this disappeared, to be replaced by a hired Mercedes Vito van that is kept in a different small yard nearby but on the west of the station (and seemingly part of the Whitechapel Sports Centre). EN22AZT, photographed on 20th March 2025, has lettering on labels. As well as the mirrored Incident Response on the front, it has a large Elizabeth Line roundel and more lettering on the sides.

Until recently, service vehicles operated by White Bus were given fleetnumbers in the 90-99 block, with numbers being reused as vehicles were replaced. Recently the numbers have spread into the 100+ block, as shown by Peugeot Partner van KW64DZO which has the number 100 in the top nearside corner of the windscreen. Seen at Horsell garage on 16th March 2025.

The service vehicle fleet of White Bus seems to be growing, as can be seen in this photo taken at their Horsell garage on 16th March 2025. The vehicles are operated in as-acquired colours, though most do have company fleetnames applied. Note the similarity of the registrations of recently added Ford Transit Connect van YG10EBZ (near the middle) and earlier Citroen Nemo van YG10PBZ (on the left). At the far right is Ford Fiesta car WK03YWG, which was already over 20 years old when it was acquired.

I have said a lot about Works for London service vehicles over the past couple of years, so for this one I will just say that EO21XKJ is a Hyundai Ioniq car that was found in the alley off Uxbridge Bus Station on 12th March 2025.

The fleet of recovery lorries used by Dynes seems to have been growing quite rapidly in recent years. Not previously reported is DAF AY72UPK, seen passing Walthamstow Station on 11th March 2025. It had HA50 (an Arriva London ADL Enviro400 City bus in Superloop livery) on tow. Whatever was wrong with the bus seems to have been fixed quickly, as it was reportedly back on route SL2 later the same day. Bringing up the rear is a new Wright StreetDeck Electroliner from the batch that recently converted Stagecoach London's route 257 to electric operation from Leyton Garage.

The LUL office at Barking Station was reported to be affected by the closure of Wakering Road for a while in late 2024, meaning that vehicles could not access the small yard and hence had to be kept elsewhere. The yard was back in use by March 2025, as shown in this photo taken on the 10th. It would appear that the allocation of vehicles was also changed at the same time. It is still all Volkswagens, but some of the 87xxVW numbered examples seem to have been replaced by slightly younger 89xxVW vehicles. Visible here are VW Caddy Maxi Crew Vans 8904VW and 8907VW with (probably) VW Transporter Crew Van 8708VW behind.

TfL Ford Transit Connect Crew Van 9371F was photographed at Acton Works on 8th March 2025, outside a building known as Wilson House. It has the new normal livery but the sign in the windscreen helpfully shows that it is used for LUL Emergency Response.

Some of the recently delivered Ford and Renault vans have this variant of the new TfL livery, with a yellow 'safety' stripe along each side, plus chevrons on the rear. This is presumably related to the functions the vehicles are allocated to, although it is a bit early to draw any clear conclusions on this. 9404R was photographed in the top car park at Acton Works on 8th March 2025.

Assuming that the fleetnumbers are being allocated in blocks, it looks as though there will have been about 40 new Renault Kangoo diesel vans delivered in late-2024 (perhaps 9398R to 9437R). If so, then we still need to look out for about 14 examples that have not yet been reported. 9433R was found at Acton Works on 8th March 2025 wearing the plainer version of TfL livery.

The TfL vehicle allocated to Blackwall, Naval Row (beside the northern portals of the Blackwall Tunnel) had been Toyota Yaris car 9111T from 2020 until late-2024. There was then a short gap during which a hired vehicle was used, before the arrival of new Renault Kangoo electric crew van 9439R in February 2025. Ray poked his camera through the fence on 28th February to capture this view, which shows that the van has the yellow-striped variant of the current TfL livery.

Early 2025 saw the arrival of several Renault Kangoo electric crew vans for TfL, the fleetnumbers suggesting that there may be as many as 20 (9439R to 9458R). They are being allocated to various users though all carry the same TfL lettering. 9453R was seen at Acton Works on 22nd February 2025, with a charging cable plugged into the socket concealed by the Renault logo in the front grille. It was in the area used by some LBSL vehicles (such as the VW Crafter van on the left), though as can be seen, there are also LUL vehicles here, so it is not clear who is using the new van.

When Jon staked-out the exit road from Ruislip Depot on 21st February 2025 the aim was to get a photo of TfL tipper lorry KM72XPP for use on the cover of the new service vehicle listing booklet (SUP24K, available now from LOTS). He managed this, and also caught this going-away view.

Capturing LUL lorries on the move is quite rare, but to catch two on the move together is almost unheard of. On 21st February 2025 Jon Pye managed it with this pair seen leaving Ruislip Depot and about to pass Ruislip Gardens station. Both are MAN TGM demountable lorries in LUL livery, LV66XYD from 2016 leading one year younger WU67AJX. Both had flatbed bodies that had started out as dropsides. The numbers are not visible but I reckon that they are DB13 on LV66XYD and DB10 (without the wheel cut-outs) following on WU67AJX.

The only vehicular access to the huge LUL depot at Ruislip is via a long access road that eventually comes out onto West End Road at the point where it passes under the railway tracks close to Ruislip Gardens Station. I know from experience that you can wait a long time here and not see any service vehicles at all. On 21st February 2025, Jon was very lucky, although I believe some 'inside knowledge' was also involved! First to appear was Renault T-series artic LT73HKJ of Evenheights. It was pulling a Nooteboom extendable trailer loaded with rails. This is similar to LUL's T80, although it would appear to be somewhat shorter when un-extended.

Wilsons of Newcastle held an auction of vehicles and equipment on behalf of TfL at the end of January 2025. Amongst the lots were several road and rail service vehicles, the latter including track-relaying crane TRM628. Built in 1993, this was one of two twin-jib cranes used by LUL, the other was TRM627 dating from 1986. Such machines are used for relaying sections of double track, with the two crane jibs able to rotate to either side and then be used in tandem to move track panels into position from the parallel track. On 20th February Jon caught TRM628 being removed from Ruislip Depot using a Reid Freight MAN TGX artic with a specialised step-frame low-loader trailer. It was believed to be destined for scrap.

LUL MAN TGS artic WU67AKF was photographed at Ruislip Depot on 20th February 2025. It was coupled to newish Nooteboom trailer T80, which was loaded with side panels from engineer's wagons and not making use of its extendable length. Note that the lorry cab appears to have an illuminated roundel in the back window!

A second Renault Kangoo electric crew van was added to the Eltham Bus Station allocation in February 2025, as seen in Peter's photo taken on the 19th. With the new standard livery, it is hard to tell which section vehicles are actually operating for. Eltham is primarily an LBSL location, though it has also had TfL-PCO vehicles in recent times, and one of the new Kangoos may be with them. Notable is the fact that 9457R does not have the stripes and chevrons carried by earlier 9444R.

Ford Transit Custom crew van 8782F was new in May 2019 and was initially based at Lillie Bridge, mainly only being seen out and about at night and hence never photographed. It was then noted at Edgware Road Station on a few occasions in 2024, although again nobody managed to photograph it. On 15th February 2025 it was found parked at Bollo House in Acton, although it may have been awaiting attention at Smallbills garage next door.

High-roof Ford Transit van 8411F has been based at Acton Works for most of its life, though a reduction in reported sightings after 2023 suggest it may now be kept elsewhere. On 15th February 2025 it was found on Bollo Lane, parked outside Smallbills Garage.

Diamond is the brand name used by the Rotala group for several bus operations around the UK. Vauxhall Corsa car FG22HVR was seen in the Diamond North West area, being photographed at Ashton-under-Lyne Interchange on 8th February 2025. However, the Birmingham area phone number under the fleetname suggests it was recently transferred in from the West Midlands operation.

Although we have managed to see many of the new TfL Ford Transit Connect vans as they pass through Acton Works on delivery, it is almost certain that some have been missed. For example, 9212F was licensed in June 2024 but was not reported until Dave photographed it parked near Griffith House on the night of 13th February 2025. There are 67 numbers as yet unaccounted for in the range 9169 to 9398, although there are 18 vans for which we have registrations but not fleetnumbers. It could well be that that whole range of numbers are on Transit Connects that are out there, somewhere. Or it could equally be that some of these numbers have not yet been allocated/delivered. What we really need is for people to keep an eye out and let us know if they see something new.

Renault Kangoo van 8722R is allocated to London Trams and nominally allocated to the depot in Therapia Lane. However, on 13th February 2025 it was photographed at a slightly unusual location. If you worked it out from the few visual clues (the sloped styling on the building, and the railway flyover in the background), give yourself ten LTSV points. It is in fact the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy (TUCA) at Ilford. This facility was opened in 2011 and was originally tasked with training the workforce that would be building Crossrail (now the Elizabeth Line). Upon completion of that project, the premises passed to TfL ownership and a contract was awarded to Prospects College of Advanced Technology to continue to provide railway-related training courses.

We actually added this location to the LTSV database a while back (under our code IDE), since a number of Elizabeth Line service vehicles (normally the Ford Transit crew vans) seemed to be kept here. This appears to have since ceased, although there is a back-up control centre for the Elizabeth Line on the site. One final oddity is that the only other photo of 8722R on LTSV was taken at Acton Works when it was new in late 2018, and it showed the van parked close to.... an Elizabeth Line Ford Transit!

I still receive a few photos of 'Works for London' service vehicles, although these are not going to be added to the database. Having said that, there do not seem to be very many of them about. Perhaps the most visible are a small batch of Kia Niro electric cars. GK21LLJ has been seen several times around south east London and on 12th February 2025 it was parked at North Greenwich Station.

Parked in Northolt on 9th February (across the road from 8848F) was TfL Ford Transit Connect van 9320F, which also had a yellow 'safety' stripe applied. A correspondent had reported seeing one of the new TfL vans with a side stripe, though this was not confirmed at the time. It could be that this will be a new livery policy. The side stripe is formed of highly reflective material, and greatly enhances the visibility of vehicles, particularly at night. With the previous standard liveries, the coloured stripe above the blue skirt had been reflective, but the new TfL plain white scheme has none. Reports and/or photos of any similarly-marked vehicles would be appreciated.

Peter Terry seems to be taking over from Ray as the person who gets the latest SV 'scoops'. For example, he was in Northolt on 9th February 2025, when the Central Line was closed between North Acton and West Ruislip for engineering work. Parked nearby were a couple of service vehicles, including Ford Transit Custom crew van 8848F. This had initially been (and may still be) a Power Supply vehicle based at Tufnell Park. However, it had recently gained a yellow 'safety' stripe in addition to its standard LUL white/blue/red livery. This is similar to the stripes carried by vehicles with Balfour Beatty (and others) but, as far as I know, this is the first application to a 'standard' LUL vehicle. It remains to be seen whether it is a one-off or the start of a new policy.

7672F was a fairly typical LUL Ford Transit crew van, allocated to Lillie Bridge Depot from new in March 2013. It was withdrawn a bit earlier than normal in mid-2016 and was later auctioned through BCA. Unfortunately no-one managed to photograph it during its short London life, but I have recently received this van of the van taken in Skipton (North Yorkshire) on 8th February 2025. 7672F still had its basic LUL livery and even retained its fleetnumbers, despite having left the fleet over eight years ago. It was reported to now be in use as a camper van.

TfL's Volvo FMX grab-loader tipper KM72XPP has been easy to see in the lorry yard at Acton Works since it was delivered in February 2023. In fact it was not seen anywhere else until Jon found it at Ruislip Depot on 6th February 2025. Also present was mobile office WX08KUY, which is reported to now be based here. This may be a result of the need to clear the lorry yard at Acton, but it makes sense since most of the engineering trains (which WX08KUY is often used in conjunction with) work out of Ruislip.

Most Stagecoach London bus garages now have an electric Vauxhall Vivaro van allocated for engineering support duties. Catford has one, but theirs came 18 months after the others and has a white livery instead of the standard red. John caught DL73EEV at Lewisham Station on 3rd February 2025. Note the huge red roundels on the front and sides, which have been adapted (rather unusually) with lettering reading 'WORKING IN CONJUNCTION WITH TFL'. The rear of the van had red/yellow chevrons but no lettering.

There have been some major rail replacement jobs on the eastern arm of the Elizabeth Line lately, with buses covering the section from Stratford to Romford. On the 1st of February 2025 (and the following weekend) Peter found this van parked at Stratford City Bus Station. Ford Transit van CR19MWY carried lettering for 'The Bus Doctor', which is an engineering support operation run by Kent-based Go-Coach. The lettering also refers to Transport UK London Rail Replacement, similar to that on Nissan van LL72YBB.

A pleasant surprise was to find something new at Eltham Bus Station on 28th January 2025 in the shape of a TfL Renault Kangoo van with fleetnumber 9444R. This differed in several respects from the other Kangoos delivered in December 2024. It was electric rather than diesel, a crew van to the longer length, and it featured a yellow 'safety' stripe on the sides and chevrons on the back. This is believed to be for use by TfL PCO (Public Carriage Office, overseeing taxi and minicab operations) and to be a belated replacement for Toyota Yaris car 8690T. Another PCO Yaris (8691T) was based at Wembley Park Station, so that might be a good place to look for more of these new vans.

Dave visited the Metroline base at Hayes (Rigby Lane) on 23rd January 2025 on the look-out for new buses. This location is also used by co-owned Westbus, who operate a fleet of luxury coaches and a few ex-London double-deck buses. Two of their support vehicles were found parked up, with grey Ford Transit Custom van WP73UFH in front of white Peugeot Partner MF20OMC. Dave also managed to catch part of a Mendip Rail stone train at the unloading terminal beside the GW mainline, and a bit of his thumb....

Transport UK Seat Leon car 6865 YO17RUC was seen on Station Road, just south of Hayes and Harlington Station, on 18th January 2025. The lay-by here is marked as a bus-stand (not a bus-stop), southbound buses stopping on the other side of North Hyde Road at 'Fairey Corner'. The car was working from Dawley Road garage, as shown by the DH code applied, this being almost exactly a mile away to the north-west.

Derek photographed some Transport UK crew ferry vehicles at Hayes and Harlington on 18th January 2025. I seem to recall that Abellio did crew changes north of the station (at Clayton Road / Blyth Road) but they now seem to be done south of the station. Vauxhall Astra car MT68FNA was found on Keith Road. Showing fleetnumber 6838, it had initially been based at Fulwell/Twickenham, before moving to Dawley Road (Hayes) in August 2024.

New Ford Transit Connect van 9387F was photographed at Acton Works on 18th January 2025 at a location which Ray has referred to as the BCP (for Bottom Car Park, as distinct from TCP for the Top Car Park, and for cuts and grazes...). I believe that this is a new parking place made available by the demolition of one of the existing works buildings. The houses in the background are on Princes Avenue, while the railway tracks that skirt the western perimeter of the works are beyond the red car.

One more view of the top car park at Acton Works on 18th January 2025, this time looking south-west towards Frank Pick House (which is on the other side of the LUL tracks). The line-up is dominated by LUL Ford Transit Mk8s but nearest the camera (and beside the 'picnic area'!) is VW Caddy Maxi crew van 8797VW, once based at Upminster depot. Beyond that is a Thrifty Ford Transit Custom van to the more angular, second-generation design. This was introduced in 2023 but has yet to be seen in any of the 'proper' service vehicle fleets.

Another LTSV debut, this time for VW Caddy Maxi crew van 8901VW, seen at Acton Works on 18th January 2025. Several hired vehicles were also present, including the unmarked white Mercedes Sprinter on the right, and a Thrifty Ford Transit Custom in the background. Perhaps these will be replaced by new deliveries soon...

Renault Kangoo van 9419R was delivered in December 2024 and when seen a month later on 18th January 2025 at Acton Works it was already in need of a wash! Note that the two Ford Transit crew vans in the background have consecutive registrations (LR20CXD and LR20CXE) but their fleetnumbers are in the opposite order (9017F and 9016F respectively).

Renault Kangoo Maxi van 8719R has been a common sight at Acton Works over the past 6 years. On 18th January 2025 it was found in the top car park, with a line of Ford Transits (and other types) beyond.

Most vans used by LUL are diesel-engined, but there are a few that are petrol. The VW Caddy model is available with either, and 8264VW is one of just three LUL Caddy vans known to have been petrol-engined (compared with 295 diesel ones). It was based at Lillie Bridge, the other pair being at Stratford Market and withdrawn in mid-2024. Photographed at Acton Works on 18th January 2025, 8264VW is now perhaps also on its way out.

A contrasting pair of vehicles seen at Acton Works on 18th January 2025. On the left was TfL Toyota Yaris car 9111T, latterly based at Naval Row (Blackwall Tunnel). Toyota hybrid cars were leased for various users from 2017 onwards, but they are now in the process of being withdrawn. 9111T was initially replaced by a hired van but a new Renault Kangoo electric van was delivered in February. On the right is Ford Transit crew van 8286F, new in February 2017 and based at Acton Works ever since. It seems that 8-year old vans such as this are being retained for now, with no signs of any replacements yet, while 5-year old cars such as 9111T are on the way out.

Normally based at Stratford Market Depot, Ford Transit dropside truck 8461F was photographed at Acton Works on 18th January 2025. The Transit dropside comes in various lengths, this one being to the LWB ECF (extended chassis frame) format that LUL has made much use of. As the name implies, the chassis is extended at the rear, resulting in a longer rear overhang.

Another rarely-reported but unremarkable vehicle is VW Caddy Maxi van 8873VW, seen at Acton Works on 18th January 2025. Like the Renault Kangoo, the Maxi suffix to the name denotes a slightly longer length. The Maxi variants usually have cargo doors on both sides (as here), whereas the shorter versions have one on the nearside only.

8912F on the left is from a batch of Ford Transit crew vans that were delivered over a lengthy period from mid-2019 into 2020. It may be that some of the batch were cancelled, since numbers 8917 and 8924 to 8929 never appeared. 9018F on the right is identical but delivered a couple of months after 8912F, just before the first of the COVID-19 lockdowns took effect.

With the tracks leading into the works in the background, this is the top car park at Acton on 18th January 2025. Flanking TfL Ford Transit Connect van 9254F are a pair of LUL Ford Transit, with high-roof 8674F on the left and mid-height crew van 8913F on the right. These are the only height options available on the Transit Mk8, the former low-roof variants being superseded by the Transit Custom model.

Since the closure of the DSM van yard at Acton Works last year (to be converted into a new lorry yard), what we call the top car park at the works is now usually filled with service vehicles rather than the staff cars that it used to hold. On 18th January 2025 these included LUL Renault Kangoo Maxi van 8717R and TfL-branded Ford Transit Connect crew van 9193F. Various LUL Ford Transits are visible in the background, along with a couple of hired vans.

I seem to be on a quest today to add photos of previously unseen vehicles, even if they are identical to many others that have been shown. 8954VW is a fairly typical VW Caddy Maxi crew van, and was one of many based at Stratford Market Depot. On 18th January 2025 it was at Acton Works, parked next to much larger Ford Transit van 8411F.

8205VW and 8206VW were a pair of VW Caddy Maxi crew vans given LUL Incident Response Vehicle when new in 2017. They were rather elusive though, and it appears that this was due to them being kept in the basement car park at the Palestra building in Southwark. 8206VW was disposed of in mid-2024, while 8205VW is still in stock. On 18th January 2025 it was parked in what we call the 'top car park' at Acton Works.

Here is another Ford Transit that is in need of some replacement skirt panels. 8408F is a long-wheelbase, high-roof van (L3H3 in modern parlance) that has been based at Acton since new in 2017. The location is the roadway alongside the REW building at Acton Works. The tops (only) of vehicles parked here can be seen from trains passing on the tracks in the background. Note the hired Transit (from Thrifty) behind. Hopefully new deliveries will include something larger than Transit Connects before too long...

Several of the vehicles in today's batch have been well reported but poorly photographed. Typical is Ford Transit dropside truck 8314F, which had been based at Arnos Grove Depot since new in late 2018. It could be seen in the yard there, but not easily photographed due to the double fences. Arnos Grove has apparently seen some changes lately, with new buildings constructed on part of the former vehicle yard (reducing the view even more!). Perhaps that explains why 8314F was at Acton Works on 18th January 2025 (and also seen nearby the following month)

Another vehicle making its first (and probably last) appearance on LTSV is TfL Toyota Yaris car 8839T. New in April 2019, it was one of several that initially gained LUL white/blue/red livery but then changed to TfL white/blue before it left Acton Works. Where it went to then is unknown, with absolutely no sightings reported between May 2019 and December 2024 when it was back at Acton Works, most likely for disposal. It was still present on 18th January 2025, as seen here. In the background there is evidence of construction work ongoing in the former DSM van yard. This is to enable the area to be used by the larger vehicles that are currently kept in the lorry yard on the opposite side of the railway.

Ford Transit dropside truck 8761F was new in July 2019 and was typically to be seen parked at Frank Pick House in Acton. Following the closure of that location at the end of 2024, it appears to have moved to the nearby works, where it was photographed on 18th January 2025 with a string of smaller service vehicles behind it.

Parked down near the traverser at Acton Works on 18th January 2025 was 9437R, one of the recently delivered Renault Kangoo vans. However what caught my eye in this photo was the box body in the background. This had clearly once been part of a vehicle, and it had still a Tube Lines logo on the rear. It also had an access door in the front of the nearside, and this leads me to believe that this is Feltham Coachworks demountable body DB20, last seen in 2012 and previously believed disposed of. If so, it joins DB9 in having a second-life as a static store.

Blimey, another Lifts and Escalators Ford Transit Custom crew van at Acton Works. But there is a rather obvious clue in this photo. I seem to recall that the sign on the building in the background was only added a year or so ago, but it does suggest that this department is now at least partially based at the works. 8744F was photographed on 18th January 2025.

It would appear that some of the Lifts and Escalators vehicles are now based at Acton Works, possibly following the closure of nearby Frank Pick House. Ford Transit Custom crew van 8494F had spent most of the past 7 years based at either Griffith House or the adjoining Edgware Road Station, but was seen at Acton on 18th January 2025.

Perhaps a surprising survivor is 8211N, a Nissan Leaf electric car that was new to TfL Streets in October 2016. It was transferred to LUL in about 2020, gaining a red stripe and appropriate lettering and, since then, it has been a regular sight at Acton Works, though only occasionally seen out on the road. This photo taken on 18th January 2025 shows the neat livery treatment on the rear.

9203F was among the first batch of Ford Transit Connect crew vans delivered in spring 2024, and it has subsequently been a regular sight at Frank Pick House. Displaced by the closure of that location at the end of 2024, it was at Acton Works on 18th January 2025.

8756F is another of the Lifts and Escalators Ford Transit Custom crew vans acquired in 2019, though it is one of the rarer ones judging by the sightings. On 18th January 2025 it was parked outside the old CDS offices (originally the staff restaurant). The signs in the building windows were to mark the 70th anniversary of the formation of Distribution Services (by LT as was) in 1949. It seems odd that these were not updated to mark the 75th anniversary in 2024!

A number of surplus vehicles were put up for auction by Wilsons of Newcastle at the end of January 2025. It is not known if they were all sold, and it is thought they had not actually been moved prior to the auction, but it can probably be assumed that none will see any further service. Included in the sale were the two Cartwright 3-axle semi-trailers dating from 1999. T66 was seen in the lorry yard at Acton on 18th January, while sister T65 was also nearby. On the right can be seen some of the newer trailers that have replaced these, in the shape of Dennison T77 and Nooteboom T80. The now disused Frank Pick House looms in the background.

Although the number is not carried, this small fuel tanker trailer is believed to be allocated T79, and used to refuel on-track plant machines during engineering works. It is often to be seen in the lorry yard at Acton Works, as here on 18th January 2025 when it was coupled to Ford Transit van 9138F. Note how the rear step on the van has a hinged section to allow access to the tow-bar. In the background was surplus Mercedes Econic dustcart LO66ZRD, out of use for around 2 years and destined to be auctioned off at the end of January.

Ford Transit Custom van 8481F is a fairly common sight around Acton Works, though we have never shown its front before. Not that it is any different from any of the other pre-facelift Customs in the fleet. On 18th January 2025 it was in the lorry yard at the works, keeping company with a silver 24-reg Ford Transit van on the left (presumably hired) and VW Crafter box truck 8833VW on the right. Note how the blue skirt and red stripe on the latter has been wrapped around the back of the (separate) cab.

I still don't know much about the function of the well@tfl vehicle, though it can often be seen in the lorry yard at Acton Works. 9168C is a Citroen Relay van which I have described as a crew van but I suspect it has some specialised interior. The black livery certainly helps it to stand out, as seen on 18th January 2025.

Of over 280 Renault Kangoo Maxi vans operated by LUL since 2011, we are currently showing exactly 100 as still being in stock, though this is quite probably out of date. 8557R was new in November 2017 and initially allocated to Finchley Central before moving to Bollo House by 2023. It was still there when photographed on 18th January 2025.

Another vehicle making a belated photo debut on LTSV is VW Caddy Maxi crew van 8967VW, a regular resident of Bollo House (Acton) since delivery in 2019. It was seen in the 'gap' between the buildings (an area that can be glimpsed from passing trains) on 18th January 2025. The similar van in the background is anagrammatic 8697VW.

Three service vehicles were in the top end of the Bollo House yard on 18th January 2025, this location sometimes being used by vehicles awaiting attention at Smallbills Garage next door. On the left was new Ford Transit Connect 9382F which appears to be based here (and which has been suggested to be a replacement for Incident car 8484P), while in the middle was Ford Transit crew van 8542F. Although over 7 years old, this is the first time this van has been photographed. Finally, on the right is VW Caddy Maxi van, another rarely-seen van.

Vehicles numbered 8738F to 8759F were a batch of 22 Ford Transit Custom crew vans for LUL's Lifts and Escalators section, being divided between Frank Pick House (Acton) and Griffith House (Marylebone). The former location was closed at the end of 2024 and it is not entirely clear where its vehicles are now based. Derek found 8742F outside Smallbills Garage on Bollo Lane on 18th January 2025. Just visible behind the tyres on the right is LUL Ford Transit crew van 8710F, which was also a 'local' vehicle, being based at Museum Way.

Despite the arrival of lots of new Ford Transit Connects (and some Renault Kangoos), some older vehicles do remain in use. This view of the track depot on Museum Way in Acton on 18th January 2025 shows that the new Fords now form most of the allocation, but 5 year old VW Caddy Maxi crew van 8996VW is still around, while on the right is Renault Kangoo Maxi 8307R, now almost 8 years old.

White Bus employs second-hand service vehicles that would probably be deemed too old for use in London. Recently added is 15 year old Ford Fiesta van RO09XRV, seen at Staines Bus Station on 16th January 2025. It has white bus (no capitals) lettering, but no fleetnumber is visible.

The small depot at Finchley Central Station received some new Renault Kangoo vans over the turn of 2024/2025. On a frosty 4th January 2025, Peter found 9400R parked outside, with slightly older Transit Connect 9277F in the background.

The last photo of 2024, taken on the evening of 31st December, is from Salisbury Station Car Park. Dave snapped the van as he thought it looked like an ex-LUL service vehicle, although the registration number did not match any known examples. However, I realised that an '06 plate on a Transit Custom could not be original, as the model was only introduced in 2012. A correspondent had recently told me about a car-checking website that also showed previous registrations (albeit with a limit on the number of free enquiries per day), and using this I found that JP06PAV had originally been LP14XFG, numbered 7829F in the LUL fleet from new in July 2014 until disposal just 3 years later in October 2017.

Not previously reported, and not appearing on the monthly fleet list produced by the company, this is Stagecoach London Ford Transit Connect van MT71NRZ. It was photographed at West Ham Garage on 29th December 2024 and, judging by it position, it is either a mail van or it is for the diabled!

LUL has made use of around 80 Peugeot Partner Tepee (van-derived) cars since 2011, but they are now on the way out. Emergency Incident Vehicle 8484P was returned to Bollo House after a recent visit to the works but it seems to be out of use. That just leaves the two survivors from the batch of ten delivered for Lillie Bridge Depot in late 2016 (8289P to 8298P). 8291P is currently SORN, while 8297P was found at Acton Works on 28th December 2024, most likely being prepared for return to the lessors.

8470F, the Ford Transit van with a hydraulic hoist, left the fleet in December 2024, and perhaps this is its replacement. Photographed at Acton Works on 28th December 2024, WO24KCG was unmarked apart from a yellow 'safety' stripe along the sides.

The Elizabeth Line has two Incident Response Vehicles. One each had been based at Whitechapel and Royal Oak, although the latter appears to have since moved elsewhere. LUL Toyota Prius car 8454T was rarely seen, despite serving for nearly 8 years. Until it arrived at Acton Works in December 2024 (seen here in the 'top car park' on the 18th), just four sightings had been logged on LTSV, none of which decisively pointed to where it was allocated. It was probably at Acton for disposal, the same applying to TfL Toyota Yaris car 8836T parked behind.
