Wilsons of Newcastle held an auction of vehicles and equipment on behalf of TfL at the end of January 2025. Amongst the lots were several road and rail service vehicles, the latter including track-relaying crane TRM628. Built in 1993, this was one of two twin-jib cranes used by LUL, the other was TRM627 dating from 1986. Such machines are used for relaying sections of double track, with the two crane jibs able to rotate to either side and then be used in tandem to move track panels into position from the parallel track. On 20th February Jon caught TRM628 being removed from Ruislip Depot using a Reid Freight MAN TGX artic with a specialised step-frame low-loader trailer. It was believed to be destined for scrap.
