I understand that these are to be replaced during 2011.Tue 25/01/2011, 14:22
Prius PHV is a glimpse of what Toyota will be offering a limited number of customers from 2012 - a mass-production hybrid car that can be plugged in and charged from a domestic electricity supply. A 20-car lease programme is being run in the UK by Toyota and EDF Energy over the next three years. (Toyota website). Presumably TfL are also trying a pre-production batch. Mon 24/01/2011, 15:55
Perhaps this has something to do with the introduction of these cars: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/17967.aspx although the one at Eltham is apparently on trial with the bus station manager.

At a guess I would assume it's something to do with the station redevelopment and the taxi rank near where the NatEx coaches stop.Sat 22/01/2011, 17:55
Has this one received the light-bar from VU04UBM?Thu 20/01/2011, 09:04
Well spotted David, I've updated the caption and links.Wed 19/01/2011, 23:33
Although the photo show's a Hounslow Heath van & bus, the location is Hounslow Bus Station.Mon 17/01/2011, 23:36
This van is seen leaving the rear yard at Fulwell. This area is now used by Abellio, so maybe the photo should be moved the their Fulwell garage? The landmark is the Fire Station tower in the background. This is not visible from the Transdev area.

This seems to have replaced 6227F at HarrowFri 14/01/2011, 16:17
It looks like this might have been the final new vehicle to carry full Tube Lines livery.Fri 07/01/2011, 18:36
It looks like the light-bar has been removed from this van.Fri 24/12/2010, 11:51
This is a Dennis F108 ex emergency tender, apparently new to the Fire Service College, Moreton in Marsh, as ALT 470H and acquired by Bristol in 1983.Sat 18/12/2010, 11:17
The airtanks ounted on the frame behind the cab provide the train air braking capability, as the Unimog, and any other truck, can not provide enough air at the right pressure using the ordinary systems.Sat 27/11/2010, 22:59
We'd love to use this on the ontrackplant.com website if possible please! Can someone put me in touch with the photographer please? Likewise any other road/rail vehicles. ThanksSun 24/10/2010, 12:16

They seem to have missed a golden opportunity here - that reg 'BUS I TOW' really should be on one of the bus recovery fleet!Tue 05/10/2010, 19:13
Honda 6298H is used between Thornton Heath and Eltham.Sun 19/09/2010, 18:06
The cars are allocated to London Buses Area Managers and are used to attend various meetings in specific boroughs.Sun 19/09/2010, 18:02
The reason the car is missing its lights are all the cars based at Thornton Heath had their lights stolen whilst parked up overnight.Sun 19/09/2010, 17:05
Ensign are currently handling a batch of between 50 and 60 single deckers for Bus Eireann. I managed to photograph about 20 of them for Buses Online during a recent visit. To correct the description slightly, Bus Eireann and Dublin Bus are completely unrelated operators. John.Sat 18/09/2010, 18:23
Vauxhall Astra Van 5417V was another Welsh speaking service vehicle being CP02JFGMon 13/09/2010, 22:33
On 1st September at least two of these were in Acton and on 6th September at least three. They may be having pedals fitted! I subsequently found out that the annual Acton Works sports day was being held that week and they were short of hurdles. Three could also be seen on 12th October and two on 21st October so they seem a good buy (or goodbye)

Yes bodywork is by Boniface, Veh was also at Boniface Bruntingthorpe Day , the Volvo was doing a static display. Also to be noted is the Cummins badge, the latest Sovereign vehicles have this added?

Hmm Im sure i saw an oyster card under here somewhereMon 30/08/2010, 21:54
Yes, thank you very much Doctor! The date should be 17th July 2010 rather than 17th October.Wed 25/08/2010, 15:04
I shall be at Marble Arch on 17th October to see this vehicle!Fri 20/08/2010, 14:43
Hmm, not quite brand new! The VW Crafter is in fact based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, using the same chassis and body panels (and indeed built at Mercedes factories in Germany). The tapering 'groove' in the bodyside is a give-away, most apparent on plain vans. Compare the above with this view of MB Sprinter 6110M. The engine and transmission on the Crafter are VW items, and the front end styling is quite different.

This is an ex Fire service rescue tender, ex Bristol Fire brigadeMon 26/07/2010, 19:20
I was reading an old LU stock book today and it mentioned that the 1967 stock was delivered new to Ruislip depot, then moved to Hainault to test the ATO. They were then moved to Northumberland Park using connections with BR at Leyton and Northumberland Park (both now removed). (I also discovered that one 4-car set was allocated to the Central Line for several years, to work alongside the 1960 stock on the 'automatic' Hainault-Woodford 'branch'). Finally, I looked up a later book and it mentions 1967s being modified at Acton in 1989, and refurbished at Rosyth (!!) from 1990.Thu 22/07/2010, 00:13
I think I can claim this to be a 'girl and the service vehicle' pic!Thu 08/07/2010, 14:51
The event at Stanmore Station car park was on 12th September 1995Wed 07/07/2010, 16:36
The Stanmore event was oganised by London Underground in the main station car park and had some buses and various stalls on the 12th September 1995. No Underground trains were on show to the public but Sara Siddons and train did run trips to Neasden and back.Wed 07/07/2010, 16:34
This version I believe was called the Escort Combi.Sat 19/06/2010, 11:45
The location of this photo is what was the rear bus station at Edgware underground station. Some of the buildings to the left were demolished to make way for a new road from Station Road when the bus station was rebuilt in 1987/88.Thu 17/06/2010, 10:51
The location is coming out from Chichele Road into Cricklewood Broadway in Cricklewood. It probably going across Cricklewood Broadway into Cricklewood Lane to Golders Green underground depot with its load of rail wheels. This road juction is where trolleybus routes 645,660,664 and 666 all met.

Renowned modeller Dave Lowery has painted and detailed a ''OO'' gauge pannier to create a unique re-creation of LT loco L99 in miniature. If you would like to own it, contact Steam Railway magazine at steam.railway@bauermdeia.co.uk with an offer of £125 or over. All the money will go towards restoring the Spa Valley Railway's collection of LT vehicles. Offers by 21st June 2010 pleaseSun 30/05/2010, 19:01

I was told this morning that the '67 stock is making its way from NP to Acton under its own power. At Acton some interesting things will happen to it before it goes off to the big ATO tube line in the sky.Thu 13/05/2010, 11:50
Problem with the 1967 stock is that they have no fitted tripcocks. If passing from Victoria to Piccadilly one has to be fitted (there is a safety signal at Finsbury Park preventing movement without same)Mon 10/05/2010, 07:07
My apologies. I had a quick dip on the net and found this. ''There were some failed tests to see if they could squeeze a 09TS down the Piccadilly Line but they won't fit so the 09TS will be the first trapped trains on their own line for some years.'' This implies that the 67s can go through. However, I also found this: ''The Test Train accesses the Victoria line via the link at Northumberland Park Depot.'' here. The latest track atlas I have shows no link between LU and NR at NPD.

Mon 10/05/2010, 00:46
I understood that the 1967 stock was line-bound and could not use other lines. Perhaps I'm wrong - certainly the 2009 stock is larger and must travel by road. By the way car 3016 has been preserved.Sun 09/05/2010, 12:39
Ray. You drop five points for forgetting the Pic to Vic crossovers at Finsbury Park! As far as I know there is no point on the LU network that cannot be reached (albeit sometimes circuitously) from any other point. Luckily you gain seven points for that Brighton and Hove info!Sun 09/05/2010, 00:36
Presumably disposal by rail would involve transportation off the line by road transport as it is not rail connected.Sat 08/05/2010, 12:02
I've just noticed that this truck was left hand drive.Thu 06/05/2010, 00:34
This vehicle was based at Turnpike Lane Bus Station whilst I was an ATC there.Wed 05/05/2010, 12:06
Registered from 1/5/1973 to 31/1/2001 it was last licensed as blue! Note date of photograph.Thu 29/04/2010, 19:59
I doubt it somehow. Even if they acquired a plain chassis cab for training purposes, I am sure they would not bother to number it. I think the problem is that the descriptions on the official list are somewhat variable. My guess is that 6794F actually has some bodywork, perhaps an access hoist?Sun 25/04/2010, 12:44
Perhaps 6794F looks something like this?Sun 25/04/2010, 10:10

Like the EN Atkinson this started out as an eight-wheeler.Wed 07/04/2010, 18:23
Western SMT had two or three half cab Matadors. All were obtained from Military surplus stocks. One had its AEC engine replaced with a Gardner 6LXB resulting in a pronounced 'snout'. The last survivor was only scrapped a few years ago. Wed 07/04/2010, 18:20
This started life as a single drive 8-wheeler. The chassis was shortened by cutting between the rear axles. When I saw it in the mid eighties it was equipped with a crane similar but a bit larger than the one on the Scammell in the next photograph.

That's an Enviro 300. 27576 in the Stagecoach fleet. It took some effort to get this picture as I saw the flashing lights ahead of me on the way back from B&Q. I tried to work out its route to the garage and head it off but I kept getting it wrong and seeing the darned thing ahead of me still. It was just lucky that he took a slightly different route into the Birch Road industrial estate enabling me to go the other way and get this shot after screeching to a halt and doing a ''Starsky & Hutch'' across the bonnet!.Wed 07/04/2010, 15:18

Go-Ahead London have replaced their two Mk.6 Ford Transit 'Driver Evaluation Vehicles' with two new Renault Master dCi 100 minibuses. Although lettered for London Central they have appeared in other parts of the Go-Ahead territory. LV59EJA is shown in Camberwell garage on 26th January 2010.Sun 07/03/2010, 16:31
...and here, never seen before in the wild, we can see the baby train suckling from its mother. It hasn't gained its mother's colouring yet, but you can see how it has already found its way to the special roped-off area, where it knows it can gets its sustenance undisturbed. When it grows up enough, it will take on the vivid colours of the parent, & from then on will be able to travel alone, independent of the parent - who knows where we might see it roaming next. Isn't nature wonderful. David Attenborough - eat your heart out.Wed 03/03/2010, 20:13

Surely this is the interior of 6706F. The ovens are on the left and the pans etc are on the right. It looks like over 200 could be fed in a sitting, although I can't see where the servery is or where the bbq seating and tables are stowed.

No bother, I think Duracell are on ''3 for 2'' in Boots at the moment. I think this is the inside of battery loco L38 which I took at Upminster open day in August 1990. I don't reckon that the boys from 'elf an' safety would let your near enough to take a picture like this nowadays and they'd do their best to prevent an open day in the first place. Those were the days ...nostalgia aint what it used to be is it?Tue 02/03/2010, 11:26
No doubt the white van on the extreme left turned up after someone was overheard saying they were about to ''blow up'' an Underground train... (OK, bad taste, I know...)

This vehicle was previously with Midland Metro, upon arrival in blackpool it replaced an elderly Bedford Brush tower wagon. This is the only ''wierd'' looking tower wagon in the fleet now as the other bedford tower wagon has also been withdrawn. Fri 22/01/2010, 19:55

Apparently for bridge maintenance/repairs - damage by high vehicles?Sat 02/01/2010, 21:37
I think Kevin may be on to something there. It does look rather like the 'Tab', and that would match with the buses crossing from the right. Of course every other building in the area is new so it is hard to be certain.Thu 24/12/2009, 01:25
Only a suggestion, I realise that I am probably wrong, but could the building in question be the London Tabernacle at Elephant & Castle, which would probably make this shot on the road leading to London Bridge? As I say, I am probably wrong!Wed 23/12/2009, 07:59
With regards to the lower panels having been cleaned, certainly most of the rebranded SVs at Lillie Bridge have only had the panels wiped clean where the new vynils are fitted, dependent on the weathering on the vehicle this is sometimes more obvious than not! Wed 23/12/2009, 07:55
I may be wrong, but I believe these are being driven by the post-delivery/pre-acceptance 'lads' and both returned back together, as they often do (from being fuelled?)Sun 20/12/2009, 19:32

The first Transit in this livery has appeared at Lillie Bridge (6123F), I would take a picture but I am waiting for some decent weather!!!Mon 07/12/2009, 13:35
Shades of 4479?Fri 04/12/2009, 11:31
This vehicle was seen in Colchester on 3 December 2009 with the following branding: eastcoast.co.uk 'Business as usual'. This is the newly nationalised East Coast railway company. Thu 03/12/2009, 12:44
Being too close to call at the date of this photograph, but records show this was with LCBS until 7/9/1986 passing then to Kentish Bus. As the photo was taken three days before transfer (4/9/1986) then it would have been white (not green) when leaving the former company and also white with the latter

Thu 26/11/2009, 16:55
If that is bridge MR52, then the location is Chapel Lane, Pinner.Fri 20/11/2009, 16:06
It looks like Jacob Epstein's 'Night' is on the building behind (55 Broadway) which makes this Petty France. The 'Passport Office' sign is another clue.Fri 13/11/2009, 22:00
Looking at Google maps, these are no longer on site (surprise!) but it would appear that they are parked on Fortune Way rather than Salter Street which was just around the corner. The building behind is still there and little changed.Tue 10/11/2009, 20:07
I am fairly certain that the Renault Master is 6644 (6646 was in the other yard at the time, while 6645 is at Hainault). I have added a photo link accordingly.Sun 11/10/2009, 21:55
Going by the sightings records I would agree. In my defence, I did the captions while I was offline!Sun 11/10/2009, 21:41

Could this have, indirectly, replaced Smart car EJ55MPV?Mon 14/09/2009, 19:05
That's what it looked like to me ! It wasn't very big, not much more than a cab for pulling a train. Sun 13/09/2009, 21:07
A couple of minor mods have been made since this vehicle was delivered (compare the above with the December 2008 photo). Firstly there is a locker underneath the front of the dropside body. Second the headboard has had extentions to form a 'H' bolster. Thirdly the tail-lift now has mini beacon lights on it.Sun 13/09/2009, 15:47
