The first Mercedes-Benz artic in the fleet was 2471M (D543CLC) acquired in April 1988 after use as a demonstrator. It arrived in this orange and silver livery and retained this until being repainted into the new white and blue livery sometime after 1990. In this 13th August 1988 view at Chiswick works, the unit is coupled to step-frame trailer YT29. Barely visible is the large airfoil mounted on the cab roof.
