Kim has recently sent in some beautifully high-resolution scans of slides taken in the 1970s and 1980s. The first of these shows (for the first time here) AEC Swift bus SMD441 parked at Victoria Bus Garage. Five redundant AEC Swift buses were converted for other roles between 1978 and 1981. SMD441 became a mobile recruitment bus in May 1979 and was repainted in this attractive red and white livery. It also later carried the spurious fleetnumber 441R. Eventually sold in March 1987, it was outlived only by mobile classroom STB91. Another AEC saloon is just visible parked in front, but this may be one of the buses based here for Red Arrow services until replaced by Leyland Nationals in 1981.
