Details: This remarkable photo was taken from the footbridge at Hammersmith (Met) Station on 22nd April 2017. A number of engineering trains occupy most of the track as far as Goldhawk Road Station, each with a battery loco at each end. As far as I know there are 29 of these still in stock, with probably 16 just about visible here. In fact a further 6 were on trains in the station behind the photographer. Most of the locos have been refurbished with new cab-front walkways and handrails. Nearest the camera is L50, built by BREL Doncaster in 1974. This one was notable for lacking high-level drawgear and buffers. |
