Details: The 1975 batch of Inspector's Radio Control cars were Ford Escort estates 1906F to 1927F. What set this batch apart was that they were described as being orange (or 'tangerine') rather than standard red. Until recently I had only seen black and white photos of cars from this batch, so I was pleased to find this photo of 1917F, taken in Romford when it was still fairly new. The colour of the bodywork does not look too far off being red, although it does seem slightly lighter than the red of the roof-mounted roundel. Given the vagaries of colour film at the time, plus the changes that could result from the printing and scanning processes, I am not sure whether the livery was actually different enough to warrant distinction. Can anyone remember seeing these cars in the flesh?

Kim RennieThey were definitely an orange red colour, not too dissimilar to NBC Red. Thu 29/04/2021, 23:13
Thomas YoungPaul R has advised that early Mk2 Escorts were in 'Carnival red', which was a sort of tomato soup shade. Later batches came in a darker shade known as Venetian red.Wed 05/05/2021, 00:25
