| Details: I was rather surprised to see this photograph of MAN demountable truck 2587 passing Mile End on 30th September 2011 since it is clearly carrying body DB20. Feltham Coachworks supplied four different bodies in the 1990s, although the other three (DB22-24) were only for use on longer wheelbase lorries. DB20 was a plain box body with a roller-shutter door on the nearside, but it has seen very little use in recent years. Every time I have seen it, it has been standing on its legs in the yard at Acton. The demountable concept has apparently fallen out of favour with Tube Lines and future deliveries are expected to be normal dropside lorries. It remains to be seen whether any box trucks are acquired to replace the bodies like DB20. | ||
