LTSV-LTA in words

LTSV LT Archive is a collection of scans of London Transport documents from the period 1944-1994. Most of the documents are concerned with the road vehicle fleet (buses and service vehicles, with some coverage of trolleybuses). The scans were originally done by John Marshall several years ago, and although of generally low quality, they provide a uniquely detailed view of changes to the vehicle fleets during the period.

The original collection included just over 40,000 images (some documents had several pages). Work to add all of these is still ongoing, and the current situation is shown in the box on the right.

10/12/2020: Phase 1 is almost complete! Another 1,800 documents have been added, along with related (new and updated) zip files. The latest set includes BEL (Bus Engineering Ltd) throughput in 1989, Chiswick overhaul registers for 1948-1956, various LT memos for 1983-1997, Overhaul memos for 1947/1948, Inspection Reports for 1984-1986 and documents relating to vehicle sales for 1981 to 1997. There are now less than 2,500 more documents still to be added, and the majority of these are Overhaul memos from 1949-1960 and 1974-1986.

In case you were wondering, Phase 1 covers the addition of the existing documents. Phase 2 will follow and adds some admin functionality. Phase 3, for which there is no current timescale, is to start replacing the low-resolution scans with better ones.
